Free Used Resmed S9 Climate line heated hose

Post by johnthomasmacdonald » Wed Nov 27, 2013 8:17 pm

I just found out that my insurance company sends me out a new hose every 3 months. I have no infectious disorders, just osteoarthritis. I did have an ear infection a month or so back but I regularly run dilute Dawn detergent through it and a couple times a months i soak it for a couple of hours in 3 parts water, 1 part vinegar - as per my DME's instructions. So if interested just PM me and i'll mail it out to you - don't worry about the shipping. I'll re-post this every 3 months if there is any interest. I hate stuff going to waste.

Happy Thanksgiving! John

Because your insurance will provide a new hose every 3 months doesn't mean you have to take it if you don't need it. I think you were the one that was so critical of our (US) health care system and here you are trying to take advantage of it. Hoses last a LOT longer than 3 months. By offering to send it to someone else indicates that it is still a usable hose.

In the middle of the night if your hose fails. It would be very nice to have a spare.

I'll gratefully accept it if it hasn't already found a home. How the heck do you PM on this board? LOL

On the left hand side of a person's post, below their avatar, the last item is a PM icon. Go back up to JTM's original post and click his PM button.

Didn't you say in a previous post that you already had a CLimate Line Hose?

You are a good person, John! I think LSAT is captain of the CPAP police.

No...I just hate to see people take advantage of our health care system...It's costly enough without that. Also...if someone is giving something away, it should go to someone that has no insurance and really needs the item. (By the way ems...I'm a sargent...not a captain).

Yup, I said that I have one that has never felt even remotely warm. Not sure that it works. And yes, LSAT, I'm uninsured.

"taking advantage" - just thought I'd mention that I made NO REQUEST for the replacement hose or replacement filters - when the DME came by my house they had an agreement that i had to sign if i wanted the unit. In that agreement i agreed to take care of the unit and the accessories with FAR more diligence than i had used when they were mine - it is NOT mine, it is a RENTAL. I agreed to clean out and wash the humidifier chamber DAILY, never use any liquid but distilled, and twice a week soak the humidifier chamber in 1 part vinegar/3 part water. They also have rules for the hose and filters - how often i need to replace them. They sent them to me unasked for but i agreed to use them as instructed. I have this weird habit, i never agree to do things to people's faces and then don't do them when they aren't looking. If you wanted to save money on healthcare why not complain about the THREE overnight sleep tests ( insurance paid $2500 per night on a bill of $8500 per night) they made me take because they refused to pay any attention to the sleepyhead readouts. After the 3 tests, they came to the same conclusion that i had before going in based on the very clear results with my readouts that i needed an asv machine. Given that my insurance company fights over every penny, they must have their reasons for wanting the hoses and filters replaced so often IN THEIR MACHINES. I also received a $350 refund this year on my insurance since they weren't even spending 80% of the premiums that they take in on patient health care.

John... I feel badly that you felt the need to defend your kind gesture.

LSAT (sargent) ... If it makes you feel any better, the hose did go to someone who doesn't have insurance.

This is a new one... I "rented" through Medicare the first year. I was not given such instructions. Also, I was never sent anything that I didn't request. This sounds very strange. It's hard to believe it varies this much from state to state.
