Getting a vpap today....keeping fingers crossed

Post by GlimR » Tue Nov 19, 2013 9:48 am

It's been about eight weeks now on cpap and I,'ve been struggling big time to rack up enough hours for this to help me.
After a visit to the sleep Dr. Last week I,'ll be getting a cpapap this afternoon. I am so hopeful I can tolerant it more and can start seeing some positive changes in how I feel.

It is only because of all the posts I,'ve read here, being made to understand that I need to hang in there that I am and haven,t thrown in the towel....you guys have inspired me to keep keeping on till I get this right.....but tired~

Let us know how it works out. This business can be very frustrating to do the therapy, but when it begins to work, Like WOW

Hi purple~

First night w/VPAP.........I slept with it for almost 6 hours!! Wow! That's a LONG time for me!
The exhale was so much more "normal".......pressures set @ 7/14. I am actually looking forward to going to bed tonight for the first time since I started this trip!!

What pressure support are you using?

I am sleeping longer with the new machine....between six and seven hours a night.....still not feeling any different. I know it's only been three nights.....but impatient to feel better.

That's the difference between exhale pressure and inhale pressure. If you're doing straight bilevel then your PS would be 7(difference between 7/14). Most people find PS=3 or 4 to be most comfortable. So if you use the Auto feature, at Epap=7 with PS=4 your Ipap pressure would be 11, if you need the higher pressure at times your Epap would be 8,Ipap=12 and up to 10/14 . If you're sleeping comfortably with your settings as is that's fine but if not you might discuss it with your Dr or ask how to change it here. Hope I didn't confuse you. Keep us posted.
