Heated Hose Question
David, they are referring to the small 18 inches of hose that comes with the mask. Not the big hose.

Wow Bob, you are so smart (and I can be pretty dumb at times). I've never seen that - and there is even a connector to connect two hoses together. Cool.

Dllfo, the only place to get it is Australia - at this link:

With your Respironics machine, you want the S4 hose. I just ordered my second one - taking no chances if mine dies.
You will also need to buy a DC adaptor at RadioShak.

It used to be that Australia was the only place to buy the Aussie heated hose ("Sleepzone heated cpap tube") but recently I saw a site here in the U.S. that carries Sleepzone's heated tube:
Heated hose at cpapusa.com
I wish cpap.com would carry it.
Actually, the Sleepzone people in Australia are so good and fast at sending it to the U.S. (and the shipping is free), buying it directly from sleepzone.com.au is easy as pie. Free pie and chips?

I have the built in cover also, how do you clean it if you can't put the hose in water?

Bonnie, you can put a fleece hose cover over what is already there. It keeps the permanent one clean, helps insulate, and isn't as scratchy.
The hose cover has to be a little bigger than a standard one. I make my own.

Thanks Linda.
I will probably make one just to have a removable one to clean. So far I don't find the built in cover scratchy, it is like soft sweatshirt material.
Ahhh.... life with OSA and all the tweaks & construction......

I was thinking about buying one from Cpap.com.
Another question that I have is if the heated hose gets really really hot if it is not exposed directly to the air?
I keep mine under a pillow, and that part seems to heat up way too hot, and on top of it all I like my pillow cold. So I guess I will have to find someway of getting it around my head without too much trobule.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Jack

Just some thoughts here, as I do not have a heated hose, so am just speculating:
* to keep the heated hose from being too warm/hot when near you
AND/OR
* to insulate an extension hose:
Consider either making or purchasing a Fleece Hose Cover.
cpap.com sells them, and I also make them, in any length, in 15 different colors, with optional monogram. They are a good investment to protect your heated hose while adding comfort,.
These covers will protect your heated hose, and they are washable; will also aid in keeping the excessive heat (if that is a problem) from becoming a 'hot spot' in your bed, and also insulate the extension hose.
