Responics CL2 mask with Resmed S8 APAP?

Post by Guest » Thu Jun 15, 2006 9:46 am

HI there,

Just wondering what I should put the mask settings at using the CL2 with the S8 APAP. I had it set to the swift because that is what I was using.

Thanks for the info!

Jack

I don't have that cpap machine, but the CL2 is about the same as the Swift. Or I think someone said there was a setting for nasal pillows.

It probably doesn't matter much when you consider that the Respironics Remstar has no such settings for any masks (that I am aware of).

Couldnt the Remstar be using a different Alogrithim that could make the readings react in a different way? The reason why I am worried is because I got readings of 0.0, 0.0, 0.0 last night for the first time....I just think that it could be erroneous cause of the mask differentials...

Thanks for the help! Going to register soon!

According to my DME the dwift setting will do just fine? Any second thoughts on this?

From previous postings on this subject, I've gotten the idea that you just need to make sure that you choose a mask setting on the S8 that has the closest vent flow rate of the CL2.

I'm going to buy a CL2 next week, and I was going to verify that with Cpap.com.

I have the vent flow rates for the UMII nasal. Perhaps someone can provide the vent flow rates for the Swift. Do you see them in your UG for the CL2?

I have a Resmed S8 vantage APAP and I started out several months ago with the Breeze mask. My DME told me to use the "Standard" mask setting for the Breeze (and not the "Swift" mask setting). So that is what I used. I have since changed to the Swift mask however (and the Swift setting). But I think that Birdiebaby is correct that you want to pick the mask that has the closest vent flow rate. I can tell you that the Swift mask vent flow rate is quite different than the Breeze. The Swift numbers are:
Pressure Vent flow rate
4 20
8 29
12 37
16 43
20 49

hope that helps and let us know what you finally figure out. Because I've been thinking of getting a CL2 ("a woman can never have too much jewelry, or too many masks").

Thanks Maryb!

I found the vent rates for the CL2 online. These are approximate from a graph.

4 12
8 24
12 30
16 33
20 40

So, if I understand these numbers correctly, the higher your pressure, the closer the numbers are to the Swift, but by using the Swift setting, your machine will be expecting more of a leak rate than will actually be occuring. I think that would mean that your pressure might be a little higher than you need.

These are the vent flow rates for the Ultra Mirage Nasal mask. These look a little closer if you are on the lower end of the pressure scale.

4 18
8 29
12 38
12 38
16 46
20 53

Hope my analysis is correct... if I'm wrong, please correct me!

Did you check with the people at Cpap.com to see if this is the right way to go (i.e., change the mask setting on the V8 based on the vent flow rate)?

Did they agree with our analysis?

So should I change the mask setting to the Ultra Mirage Nasal?

Thanks!
