How much are our US-made Respironics models being sold for there? How well is 'free trade' treating our stuff there?

What is the value of the Australian dollar? Is that why?

If you are adventurous, you could go to one of our closer protectorates like Guam or the Mariannis? Islands or something and get one instead of spending days flying here and back. A lot closer to you guys although no Disney Land, etc. Or, can't you just do it all by mail? Must you be there physically holding a prescription?

If it were me, I'd make it easier and fly to New Delhi -- I bet you could get a great machine for a fraction of the cost and I believe it is much closer to you.

The AUD and USD have been within about 10% of each other for a while and often within 3% either way in the last 6 months. It tends to be cheaper to go to LAX and there are places you can drive to, pick up the machine and get back on the plane if you wanted to.

There are some places selling some interesting no name, low cost units but their price here is more than the basic PR machine out of the USA.

I have one of the so called Respironics with the Made in the USA sticker on it but I got it from someone on this list but it would have costs me something like 8 times more to buy it here and they tend to cost more than the ResMed gear. I can see why their gear would cost more to sell here as it should be harder for them to source the $2 power cord we need here. Having a support office does cost a small fortune here which should give ResMed a huge advantage since they have a whole corporate office, R&D and manufacturing lab in some rather large buildings.

Why waste money on flying to the US? Get them to post it. If they won't sell to you because you are overseas, simple chose a brand that will.

The point is that it is often cheaper to fly there to collect it which means we are getting ripped off very badly and that isn't a molehill.

I feel obliged to buy through the pharmacy this time but will keep in mind to buy online from overseas in future to save money.

Unfortunately until we have the same population numbers as the US we'll be lucky if prices come within a couple of hundred dollars

CPAP.com don,t ship Resmed outside US (maybe IntelliPAP) but Secondwind CPAP and 1800 CPAP ship outside US and not bound by manufacture rules which prohibit the sales of their product to foreigners

I'm in Canada, and while I can't order Resmed directly (e.g. from Cpap.com) there are dealers here who import them, though most charge too much - one or two don't.

It's a total pain not being able to easily get affordable ResMed gear in Australia, and this is an unfortunate pox on their company.

I started out with Philips Respironics, ordered from our hosts here at CPAP.com (and saved a bundle over local prices) because of no better option being available due to ResMed's insane export restrictions.

I'm lucky enough to have ResMed gear now, but that's only because of a little luck and a friendly local with contacts hooking me up. Now I have one, I can't say it's miles better than my Philips Respironics. They both make good machines, each has their strong points. The one I have now isn't really comparable, because it's a different type.

Anyway, good luck on your journey with CPAP. I hope things work out well for you!
