State of CPAP Machines?

Post by rbishop » Fri Nov 01, 2013 3:49 pm

I receive a new machine every three years covered fully by my insurance. Is there anything better or about to be released, or should I go with another S9 Elite?

Another S9? Why would you be changing machines every 3 years? Just because you can? Machines don't wear out in 3 years

I would like to have a spare for late night television in the recliner. I have tendency on nights when cant get to sleep to go to living room and wake up after four hours in the chair. The last friend of mine that died of apnea fell asleep on sofa and his wife found him dead when she woke and realized he had not come to bed. When I get my new machine the old one that is almost 3 years old will be moved to living room. Since I will most likely be switched to ASV will have to wait 3 years for right recliner machine. Having a spare would also mean you never have to pack the primary machine for travelling.

I also need one for multiple locations, though a bit farther than a different room.

Besides, it's always nice to have a backup without waiting a week for a shipment (I'm international).

I would get the S9 autoset as it can still be in cpap mode like the elite, but would have the option for auto. You never know when your needs might change.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
