ResMed Smart Card Reader

Post by dannah00 » Wed Oct 23, 2013 6:41 pm

I use a ResMed S8 Elite II. No local DMEs can read the smart card. Is there a way for me to obtain a card reader and software to check the data at home?

Look on ebay for the card reader. I've definitely seen a few there.

I'm looking for a Respironics M-Series one.

Does anyone remember which of the two (MSeries or S8) machines work with the Mako-tech DT3500?

Edit: I remembered.. That's for the M-Series one, it is not the one the OP wants.. There might be a generic for the S8 too?

No, not really. There used to be a very special card reader that could be found and people could make a homemade card reader but last I heard those card readers were nearly impossible to find. It was a very special card reader.

The only place I know of to get a card reader for the S8 machines is EBay.

Another question before I purchase a card reader. I don't have a data card for my machine so I will also need one of those. I have looked online and I see what is refered to as a "data card" and a "smart media" card. I am assuming that they are the same because they look similar but I am not sure. If they are not the same, are there two different card readers for a data or smart media card?

Dannah00,

Start with this thread: viewtopic/t70575/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=64 ... 38#p603330
and explore the links in it.
I'm afraid you're going to have a tough time getting a card and the proper reader, but it is possible.

Jay

This is the only smart card that I know of that works with the S8
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... -card.html

Found this on EBay
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-ResMed-S8-R ... 2583d2a397

Shipping sucks but I suppose part of that is because of the manual which you don't need. Maybe contact the seller and as how much for just the card????

Sellers know these items are difficult to find and want to charge a premium and I guess they can get away with it.
I don't know anywhere else where there might be a S8 Smart Card. Some DMEs might have some laying around if they used to sell the S8s. Getting them to look and/or part with it would be another story. I have heard in the past where they were asking $40 for that card.

Wow, thanks. I hadn't see that and past searches came up totally blank.
