I wonder if something like playing the digeridoo or Buteyko exercises would increase your laryngeal muscle tone a little and keep that uvula from bugging you so much? It might be worth a try in your case.
I'd heard of the digeridoo, but never of Buteyko - which a quick google later, looks very interesting, but also to be in a taught in centres stage, which suggests to me there's a lot of money still being made from it. I look where to find it in UK and I see places like Harley St, things like that. I wonder if it's because it's a money spinner or because it's yet to become such common knowledge that there's more of it over the net than the commercial sites. It certainly looks intriguing albeit a bit cultish.

I had my uvula removed in 2005 just before being diagnosed with sleep apnea. My ENT was correcting my deviated septum and reducing one turbinate and said he would take out the uvula for free to help with my snoring. He said he couldn't do a UPPP because insurance wouldn't approve it but he could remove the uvula as long as he was in the area I didn't have a bad recovery like some people but again he only removed the uvula not any of the extra fatty tissue in my throat. I think I only made it a month before I was snoring again and finally went in for another sleep study this time getting diagnosed with sleep apnea. If I could do it all over again I wouldn't do it. I don't have a lot of problems because of my uvula removal but it didn't help. Not that it is important but I can't do some of the things I used to be able to do before the removal. If you have ever heard squirrels squawking at you while you walk in the woods, I used to be able to imitate them pretty well. There are a few other little things I notice I can't do any longer but nothing major.

So I don't know if it may be an answer for you, but if I new then what I know now as they say.
