Resmed S9 and H5i. How warm? And clicking noise

Post by ghg2009 » Fri Oct 18, 2013 8:31 am

Hi.
I just got a Resmed S9 and H5i humidifier with the climate control tubing. But I have to questions about it.

1) If I set the temperature hi. How warm am I suppose to feel the air, the water inside and the plate? Because I has set it all the way hi and I don't feel it warm or hot. It's that normal?

2)I heard a noise every 3-4 seconds like a water or clicking noise coming somewhere around the humidifier where I think is near the blue/orange light. I didn't hear that noise in a friend's cpap and is the same one. Is this good?

Help please!!
Thank you!!

The S9 temp readout on the LCD is kind of bogus, IMO. The sensor in the hose determines the humidity and that's the key factor in the humidifier plate heating up... not the only factor, but the overriding one. For awhile I tried the Hybernite aftermarket hose and that sucker really heated up the air, but it's not adjustable. Regarding the clicking sound. Yes, I've got the same clicking thing, plus my machine was new not that long ago. All I can say is that It's annoying but you get used to it. (If someone has good reason to think this is a machine defect, please let us know). You could always put it in a drawer if that's a deal breaker. I think it has to do with the hose sensor doing it's sampling job. I can't imagine what else it would be.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Hi ghg2009,

I have had my S9 Autoset for 3 days and it has the same clicking sound. I am guessing that the humidifier is cycling the heating element to prevent overheating.

Clicking sound in addition to the "whistle"...oh no. I haven't heard the clicking sound, but I'm sure I will tonight...

My hearing isn't all that good.
I thought I heard something once, but it might have been a cricket.
Now I'm hungry.

I don't know whether it is good, but those things have been commonly observed by others. I got used to the clicking fairly quickly, don't notice it any more. You definitely won't hear it while the machine is on.
