Way back in April 2009

viewtopic/t93176/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=41 ... 75#p363275
Montreal experience - it took me since September to finally get my machine which I used for the first time last night. First it was the wait for the sleep clinic (december)then the clinic had to send it to my doctor (February) then an appointment with the specialist (april)(7 minutes long) and the an appointment with the Vitalaire people Friday - finally. Monday I have to call the sleep clinic and make another appointment to have the machine checked and adjusted. It cost me $1918 - at least there was no tax and I can deduct it from my income tax. They did spend endless time going over how to clean and when.

I slept better last night but my skin is reacting so I started searching the net for solutions - I found some suggesting - going to cut up some tshirts in a few minutes. I felt much better waking up this morning. My nose wasn't as stuffed and my mouth didn't feel like a dried out sponge plus it is 8 pm and I am not lying on the couch dozing.. I have a full face mask but it doesn't quite fit but they told me not to worry!! Supposedly it adjusts for leaks.

Well, where I originally posted (back in the 90s) was an email based group. But the following is my first post on this forum back in 2009:

Of course, since I started to use a CPAP unit in 1989, I wasn't such a "newbie" with my first post in CPAPtalk.

Not sure what to do... don't see my ResMed S 9 on the list.

Sorry for being so difficult.

The above was in 2011... my how time flies when you are having fun. I still hate the blasted thing... but am using it every night now.

Here is my first post:

Snoredog was my first respondent. He passed away after years of contributions to cpaptalk. Only people who have been here for several years would remember him. It was fun to read the thread and to remember how it was back then. So many people helped me then and since then. Thanks to everyone. You can see I am still here, enjoying the company.

Another of my newbie posts is at the top of the page and still going.

This is not my very first post but it is close, and it has way more entertainment value now. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=78738&p=715799#p715799

Does anyone remember what the culprit turned out to be? Prize to the first correct responder!

Thanks to Janknitz who was the one to steer me to this forum after she spotted me drowning over on another one.

This is my first post about dentures. It took all my nerve to write my first post! Slinky replied first(Thank You) but if you really want a piece of nostalgia, the old timers might want to read the second post by Snoredog(RIP).

Mark, thanks for this thread, it's going to be fun!

I don't know how, but even while being in a complete untreated OSA brain fog, I got lucky enough to come up with a subject line that somehow got some hits from a few of the experienced regulars:

"My three nights stand, and now she is leaving..."
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=70699&p=653361#p653361

As far as responses go, Hose Crusher was the first, them Emilia, Slartybartfast, then the funniest & cutest frog ever to wear a PAP mask C F!

If I knew then what I know now I could have saved myself almost 15 years of torturous sleep and deteriorating health, with the last 6 -7 years being the most critical; fighting to make it through each night alive... For me, PAP therapy is a incredible miracle

John

Snoredog saved my life. Period. If he hadn't bullied me into trying the NAII - which he HATED - I wouldn't have tried it, and would have failed out on CPAP entirely.

He also gave me tons of other great advice, and kicked my ass when I needed it.

I miss Snoredog. RIP dude! I hope you're giving them hell wherever you are!
B.

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)
