Oops, what did I do to my machine?

Post by billski » Mon Oct 14, 2013 12:22 pm

Tekkie question, of sorts...

I loaded up Encore Basic and then downloaded the data from the Respironics machine on Saturday. I put the card back in the machine, and for the past two days, the on-screen readings for the 1-day metrics shows zero. The 7-day and beyond counters look fine. I pulled the MMC card out and downloaded data again this morning. All the days up till today are there, and all the data is there.

So I feel relieved I didn't lose any data. My device has a cell phone attachment, and the data is sent to my provider regularly. So I know big brother is watching me. I'm waiting for the phone call!

The only thing I can think that I did was I checked the "return to patient" checkbox, whatever that does.

Is there some way to get the one-day results to post on the machine's read out again?

Thanks!

The on screen 1 day results are tied to the machine's internal clock which is tied to GMT time.
When are you trying to access the 1 day on screen data? How does that time related to GMT time?
The correct choice in the download is "return to patient" so there really isn't any way to mess things up on the machine. Even if someone did inadvertently tell the software to erase the SD card the machine will put everything right back on the card with the exception of the wave form graph files.
The on screen data doesn't get fully updated until GMT time rolls around. The data is on the SD card but the machine doesn't update yet.

On mine you go to the sleep report, press the big button, move down to and click to change the view from daily, weekly, monthly...etc, etc.

Could that be your problem? Did you accidently change it from daily to weekly?

Here's the sequence.
I pulled the card out on on Saturday Morning.
I put it back in. One day reading is zero on the machine's readout.
I looked at it on Sunday morning and again Sunday night, it was still zero on the machine's readout..
I looked this morning/Monday, still zero. on the machine's readout.
(Regarding GMT, It usually seems to do an update late afternoon my time)

I pulled the card out again this morning to check. All the data through this morning are there.
Plugged it back in, still zero.

I'll see when I get home tonight and tomorrow morning.

So maybe I did make some sort of change to the daily / weekly setting. I don't recall seeing anything like that. I'll putz with it tonight.

Thanks!

No. There's no way with the Respironics machines to change that feature. It can be done with the S9 but not your machine.

What was the AHI for last night per the software? If I remember right, if the AHI is less than 1.0 it rounds down to 0.0.

Which results are you asking about? And did you check the displayed data before removing the SD card? I know of one particular display, AHI, that will display 0.0 on nights (I think I've also seen this on 7-day) whenever the logged AHI is below 1.0. The true machine-AHI can be seen using whatever software you use.

Hi billsky,

tetragon and pugsy are correct about the current "60 series" PRS1 machines. Anything below "1" gets reported as "0.0" on screen. If Encore Basic shows you've got data for the night (or week or month), check and see and I'm pretty confident that it will show something below 1.0. Pugsy is also right in saying the screen won't show AHI, Leak and Periodic Breathing data for the previous night until GMT noon. So if you had "0.0" yesterday and Encore Basic shows "1.1" for today, your screen won't update to 1.1 until noon GMT.

I don't think you did anything to your machine.

Yep. I understand exactly what you are saying. Yesterday's AHI was 5.4 for the day.

But it's not just AHI, it's all the data, for 1 day averages only:
AHI = 0
90% pressure =0
Therapy hours =0
Periodic breathing =0
Days >4 =0

For the 7day and 30day averages, the numbers are good.

Before I pulled the card, I would always have some numbers in the 1 day fields. Now there is nothing.

I'm listening to you about GMT. The 7d and 30d numbers change daily. The 1 day numbers never change. They used to.

Oh, and by the way, I figured out how to open up all the other controls setup by the monitoring company.
Thanks.

I can't think of any way that pulling the SD card does anything to the daily on screen data.
I pulled my SD card this morning and got my data and then saw your post so I went in and checked my daily on screen data and it was right there like it is supposed to be. I have a PR S1 model 760 machine.
Did you by any chance have multiple sessions or sleep past GMT noon? I know that if there are multiple sessions and/or a certain amount of time (I forget how much) between the sessions that the daily on screen data appears off by only reporting the most recent session.
Since the software reports are correct and we can't blame the 0s on less than 1.0 AHI, I am at a loss as to what has happened.
The machine doesn't have to even have a SD card in it overnight to get the on screen data.

It's been three days, now it's working today! Who knows.
Thanks anyways for confirming I did nothing wrong.
