ASV newbie need setting help!
ASV newbie need setting help!
I finally got an asv while getting brain damage and diabetes and organ damage. but the high settings some patients post don't seem to work for me unless it's long term or something. I tried BPM 10 TI 1.5, max IPAP 18cm EPAP 4-9cm and I felt much better today, felt more rested and clear.

Bump.
Maybe it would help to fill out your equipment profile, plus some more depth in your circumstances and background.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

sickwithapnea / dying13 ... We've been round and round about all of this. If you are doing well with these settings, leave them "as is" and record how your AHI numbers are doing for the next week or so. Also, I had recommended you NOT use the TI setting. Instead use the AUTO setting on BPM, which also causes TI to be automatically set based on your changing needs throughout the night. Regardless, leave that as is and see how it does. Get DATA to try to determine what to do next.

Re: ASV newbie need setting help!
I'm still foggy and exhausted most days and have chest pains on the auto mode max ipap 20cm.
I can't exhale with my asthma so is a lower epap range like 4-7cm good? a professor told me to use epap min 8cm, but on the resmed machine I would demask and the bpm was stuck on 15, terrible.
last night, I tried the Phillips auto mode on ipap max 20cm and I woke up with some energy but still a little foggy today. plus I had some chest pains/irregular heartbeat on waking. earlier I had some bad fog on a lower setting max ipap 15cm, bpm 9, ti 1.5. I think I get more energy on a higher ipap and auto setting

Okay, I'll take a stab at this, but you won't like the answer. You REALLY need to have a sleep study to determine the best settings. There is NO WAY with just the data from the machine to figure out what the ideal settings are for you. That's why no one has answered.

Re: ASV newbie need setting help!
at the sleep doctor they gave me a setting of epap 5cm, ipap max 20cm, ps range- 5-15cm, but it was awful on the s9 vpap adapt. it's too aggressive and I think 15bpm may be too high for me. I mostly had unspecified apneas and hypopneas on the sleepyhead analysis of my data card and almost no OSA events.
I still feel klonopin seems to help consolidate sleep and may help deeper sleep- I'm out of my supply and feel worse without it.

Re: ASV newbie need setting help!
You really, really should work with your doctor on these settings. Did they set 15bpm? If so ask "Why?". Don't just be passive when you are with your doctor. Ask questions. Take charge and get answers. You (and/or your insurance) is paying for them to provide those answers. If that doctor won't help, find one that will help. But asking us without having your doctor involved will continue to get you no answers. We don't know. We can't know what's best for you. That's why you do a sleep study.

Re: ASV newbie need setting help!
the Phillips asv on auto mode is pretty good I have a lot more clarity and energy on max ipap 18cm. I still have some fog and am stuck on this ventilator for life. those sleep docs don't know anything, some of them are just robbing us!!!
why don't you tell me what you think about the settings?

It's not that I don't want to help. It's that without any data, how can I responsibly make any statement about your settings?

thanks very much! I'm worried since I have brain, heart, liver damage.
Re: ASV newbie need setting help!
John is giving you the best advice. Get a sleep study so you will have an intelligent starting point for your therapy. Then check your data daily, post the data and I strongly suspect the people on this site will offer help. They did for me. I'm sure you will get the same.

I'm so exhausted I just collapse on the ventilator, is there an image shack site where I upload the graphs from sleepyhead? anyway I was in a terrible car accident after being on this site!
