What SD card reader are you using?

Post by Babette » Tue Oct 08, 2013 1:37 pm

Stupid Amazon... Trying to buy an SD card reader, and all the reviews are so mixed. For a flipping under $20 product this frosts me.

Got a good one that's workin' for you?

Thanks!
B.

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

Check Walmart.
All you need is a card reader adapter. One end for the SD card to go in and the other end for plugging into a USB port.
Cpap.com has one
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/generi ... eader.html
Free shipping with the AWARE code I think.
Walmart has some for around $8 I think. Doesn't have to be fancy.

Don't need fancy, just need a recommendation on one that WORKS. Apparently many of them don't work consistently.

Thanks!

We haven't really talked much about brands that work or don't work here. I don't recall one being any better than the other.
We always tell people generic cheap will work and never hear back what they got that worked or not.
In other words no one has ever really mentioned a brand that is better than another than I can remember.
There might be an occasional failure but nothing that seemed to stand out as "don't by this one as it is crap".

Walmart is great because you can always return anything. if it craps out.

I use this GMYLE card reader that I bought almost two years ago to use with my camera's high speed SD and CF cards:

I started using it in June of this year to import System One REMstar data into SleapyHead. The card reader has gotten tons of usage (almost every day) and has worked flawlessly.

I hate to ask a dumb question, but are you sure there isn't one already in your PC? A card reader has been standard equipment for a long time.

My PC was custom built, and no, there is no SD card reader in it. It wasn't something I thought I needed, since I knew I could easily just plug a card reader into a USB drive if I needed to.

Cheers,
B.
