Just got Intellipap Auto and need mask. Mask ideas?

Post by Isadora » Tue Oct 08, 2013 11:24 am

I just got my Intellipap Auto Adjust and I didn't get a mask with it because I have only ever tried 2 masks (F&P full face and also a nasal https://www.cpap.com/productpage/fisher ... -mask.html). I liked the Eson (small size) ok and all, but since I haven't actually tried anything else, I wanted to go to a local place and "try some on". I found that locally they want me to pay for a visit ($60) and then told me the mask is $175. Which mask, they didn't even say since I hadn't come in yet. I think they were picking one arbitrarily to go with my machine.

Does any mask work with this machine?

Do I have to see a DME to try masks on?

Is there any other option to find a mask in the Montreal area?

Otherwise I will just end up buying either the Eson or something on Cpap.com (that's where I got my machine and the process was great and shipping was fast.)

I have never tried hybrids or nasal pillows or anything. I did try the full face F&P and I didn't like it as it made me feel claustrophobic but I do sometimes have sinus issues. I usually sleep with my mouth closed, though.

Thank you!

Any mask or type of mask will work just fine with the Intellipap. I use nasal pillows and like them very much. I have used nasal masks and nasal pillow masks from all the manufacturers and they all work well with the Intellipap.

Maybe there is another cpap supplier in your area who will let you try on masks at no charge. It certainly is better to try on masks before buying them - especially when you are just starting on cpap.

I have tried and cannot tolerate full face masks. I taught myself not to mouth breathe so, fortunately, don't have to use a full face mask.

You could pay the $60 and try some on. Tell them you are not ready to buy yet and need to think about it and, if you found one you really like, buy it at cpap.com.

I ended up just getting on off cpap.com as it was on sale half price. We'll see how it goes. I assume I'll probably have to try a couple of masks before I find Mr. Right haha. But I can't afford to mess about with ridiculous fees for DME's up here. I can buy multiple masks for less than it would cost me to go to a DME here. (One of them also told me if I have not mentioned, that ALL their masks regardless of style and brand and model are all $157. I feel there's just something wrong about that.
