Extra Small Nasal Pillows?

Post by gb63 » Mon Oct 07, 2013 12:41 pm

I have very small nostrils and have trouble with the pillows dislodging with little to no movement. I have a ResMed Liberty hybrid and prefer it over a full face mask. Are there extra small or child size pillows available or suggestions on how to modify the small size I use to have a smaller opening?

I don't know of any way to make those nasal pillows smaller or another kind that would work with the Liberty but you might be able to stabilize them a little better with Rooster's pantyhose/tights trick. See this for ideas. It can be done with something as little as a little bit of stretch lace.
While it mentions the Hybrid mask, the principle is the same for the Liberty.

Yeah, I'm a broken record on this. Try the Nasal Aire II. It comes with all sizes of cannulas, and the smallest ones are quite small. They even make a "petite" version of the mask, if that's too big for you.

If you are interested, I can send you a used mask. All parts take quite well to boiling/sterlizing, so there's no danger of infection. Once you get it, sterlize it to your liking and then go.

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)
