Almost 3 wks on cpap. Getting anywhere from 5 - 8 hrs sleep. AHI is anywhere between 1.0 - 1.8 each night.
Question for you that has me stumped. I started working out this week. So more tired at the end of each day
Last night slept 9 hrs . Looked at my values like I do each morning when I wake up. . AHI was 1.0. Decided that I would sleep in. So went back to bed.
When I rewoke usage said 3.2 hrs and AHI was 3.4.
1. Whydid usage restart if I only took machine off for a bathroom break
2.why is my AHI so high for that time frame. I havenever hadand AHI greater than 1.8 for anentire night.
Thanks

Re: AHI Question
Yes pugsy I did sleep past noon. So that solves the usage time. Thanks. Why do you think the AHI is so high to my norm

Re: AHI Question
A while back, I determined that my AHI's occurred just prior to waking up. I don't know why....it could have something to do about REM sleep.

Re: AHI Question
What is the event category breakdown for that 3 hour period where the AHI is a bit higher than normal?
Any clustering of events at at sleep onset or right before turning the machine off?

Re: AHI Question
I reviewed my data with resmed and sleepyhead...the majority of the OSA appears to be happening approx. 1 hour from when I put on the mask and then in clusters they increase in intervals anywhere from 30min-1hr apart.
Any thoughts?
Also In the sleepyhead app, in the detail, is the 'sleep' time recorded when you put the mask on or does the it review the data to determine change in respirations to calculate this time?
thank you

Re: AHI Question
Sleep time is from time the machine is turned on until it is turned off. None of the machines have the ability to determine if you were actually asleep or not.
Do you go right to sleep or take some time getting to sleep? Often clusters near the time the machine is turned on and off are from awake or semi awake breathing irregularities getting flagged.
Otherwise clusters during the night might also be related to supine sleeping or REM stage sleep or even combination of both.
If your normal AHI is 1 to 2 then even if there are some clusters they won't be very large clusters unless you only have 1 cluster.
The higher AHI during the 3 hour sleep session very likely has some awake breathing flagged events. It happens often with short naps in the afternoon also because we don't sleep as soundly as we might think.
Also sometimes we just might have more events than usual for no reason that we can think of. I see it happen all the time and I don't change anything. I think it was last week that I had a night where the AHI was 7.something and the very next night it was 1.something.
Sometimes we just have more events than other for any number of reasons that we can't put a finger on and that's when we usually just blame it on the aliens.
The fact is we simply don't sleep the same each night and sometimes stuff happens and we can't do a thing about it.
This is why we tell people to look at overall trends and not worry about night by night changes as long as they are within acceptable ranges for the bulk of the nights.
