climateline without humidifier
climateline without humidifier
I don't use a humidifier, but would like to have a climateline for the warming part - does it have to be hooked up to a humidifier?

Re: climateline without humidifier
The power to the heating coils in the ClimateLine comes through the power supply at the back of the humidifier where the hose is attached.
So the humidifier must be attached otherwise there wouldn't be any power to warm the air in the hose.
With the PR S1 machine there is a way to turn off the heating plate where the water tank is and still have power to the heated hose because the settings are independent...one for the heated hose and one for the water tank.
I think I remember a similar discussion about the ClimateLine in the past. When taken out of automatic mode there are settings available for temperature of the air in the hose and the plate to the tank. So humidity and temperature controls are independent of each other.
I think that a person could change the setting humidity delivery (heater to water tank) to 0...which would turn off the humidifier heating plate but still allow for warming of the air in the hose temperature selection.
I think it can be done but you have to have the humidifier attached but you don't have to use water if you don't want to.

Re: climateline without humidifier
Thanks, guess I better pass on the climateline - is there a cheaper alternative to the Aussie heated hose?

Re: climateline without humidifier
The Hybernite 2300 will do what you want.
I used one with my prior PR S1 machine a couple of winters ago.
Not quite as pricey as the Aussie. I used it till I got my S9 with the ClimateLine.

I got mine from an EBay seller so you might check out there also.

Re: climateline without humidifier
Remember that the heated hoses are mostly intended to prevent rainout, not to heat the air. I don't know how well they would do at just heating air.
