Last night I ran out distilled water so I used tap water filtered through a jug. This morning my nose feels like someone has sandpapered both nostrils near the bridge. When I use the distilled water, my nose is fine.
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
Curious observation
Re: Curious observation
I always use distilled but did the same thing one night when traveling and I ran out away from home. Something seemed different like an odd taste in my mouth upon waking up. In the US I can believe the standards and success following those for tap water would change from county to county. If well water was involved that could add tremendous variety. I can believe the experience would change with the quality of the water.
I do carry more water now and have a backup supply before I run out.

Re: Curious observation
Thanks for your reply Mark, until using a cpap machine I didn't think there would be such a difference in water quality.
Re: Curious observation
I would think that depending on the quality of the source water the additives would be altered to meet the requirements of safety and palatability. Some areas here add Fluoride others don't. Disinfectants of various types are used in drinking water. Then there are certain levels of contaminants that fall below the threshold that add interesting variety. Also the piping systems used vary greatly to get the water from the treatment plant to the user. Most of this is based on standards in place at the time of installation. Pesticides in drinking water are another common problem in agricultural areas.

Ahh the good old additives! They use so much chlorine here somtimes clothes can get a free bleaching!
Re: Curious observation
mgaggie,
I have had to use tap water on occasion. And the extra stuff in tap water does indeed irritate my nose. But doing without the (tap) water makes my nose feel even worse than using tap water does.

Would one of those filters like what you use for a steam iron work?

Re: Curious observation
I use filtered tap water at home and can't say I've noticed any problems.
