Bipap settings

Post by Wallace7777 » Thu Sep 12, 2013 7:11 pm

I noticed recently my Bipap settings had changed due to poor sleep, I checked my settings in the machine and showed 8cm I and 8cm E while breathing. When I first received it 3 weeks ago it showed 14cm I and 8cm E while breathing. My machine has a modem on it so the DME can dial in and check for compliance and to make any necessary adjustments. I called my doctor and told them that my settings had changed so the office called the DME and they say the settings had changed all over the place and that the modem may have done it.(the modem can do this on it's own?) My DME company says my Respironics 760P settings have been reset and would be set back to normal when I get home tonight. Well, not so much... Still 8 & 8. I check my script and things are different than the script in the setup of the Bipap. The script shows Max IPAP= 18cwp, Min EPAP= 08cwp, Min PS= 08cwp, Max PS= 4cwp, Biflex= 3 and heated humidification. I decided to change my settings myself to see how the machine would act. All settings will take except when I set the MaxPS to 4cwp it knocks the MinPS to 4cwp from 8cwp and doesn't give me the option to select the MinPS setting above 4cwp as the script shows.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Eric

Your Max PS can't be less than your Min EPAP.
Minimum can't be 8 and maximum 4....as you have found out ...the 760 won't do it.
I suspect a minor typo...PS minimum of 4 with PS maximum of 8 would be more appropriate nomenclature.

The modem just transmits or receives and implements changes per what it receives...I don't see how it can up and change something all by itself without someone telling it what to do. It doesn't think on its own unless it developed robot self awareness...I think someone at the DME office told it to do what it did.

I was semi sarcastic on with the idea the modem is doing it itself. They alluded to this then said the settings are programmed into the modem and checks the settings to verify the machine is still set like the program in the modem. I asked if they put the wrong modem on my machine and were trying to adjust someone else's machine and it is changing my settings. I bet they logged into someone else's today and now they are choking on the air I am supposed to get and I am still sipping the air scripted for someone else.
