sup

verb

take (drink or liquid food) by sips or spoonfuls.
"she supped up her soup delightedly"

There is "duck", not "ducks".

"Duck Soup"

There is "duck", not "ducks".

"Duck Soup"
This is a math-based puzzle, so the clue is not "sup", rather it is sup {x, y, z}

Further, there is ironic paradox in that the duck, as the only entry in the supremum, is simultaneously the "least" and the "most" (as per the definition of supremum) mirroring the journey of
"The Mighty Ducks".

Also, the concept of multiple beings within a single entity has been around for at least 2000 years.

Just ask Chris Costner.

Yes, you are correct that these are mathematical (and graphic) puzzles. My argument uses simple set builder notation. Your argument becomes complicated and is clearly an afterthought rationalization.

My argument is simple and better.

The author clearly used the verb "sup" followed by set builder notation for a set containing one duck. "Sup a duck".

And how do you "sup a duck"? If you are self-respecting, you first make of the duck "Duck Soup".

The movie is "Duck Soup".

FREE (Almost) Mask of Your Choice!!

Post by mollete » Sat Sep 14, 2013 9:03 am

I just bought up a huge stock of masks, with large quantities of virtually every style. I have no desire to sell them, but would like to trade them for next to nothing. I will trade 64 of the masks for grains of rice.

Right.

Grains of rice.

The conditions of this trade are simply:
  • 64 lucky people will draw lots to determine the order of selection.
  • As the lots are drawn, they will be placed on any handy worksheet to keep track of the order. A checkerboard will serve this purpose well.
  • Payment is determined as follows: the first person will pay one grain of rice, the second will pay two grains, the third four grains, and so forth, doubling the amount each time until all squares are filled.
  • So as to make the waiting time and mask selection fair (in case one model runs out), the last person drawn will complete their transaction first (so even though they're going to pay a little more rice grains than the first, they will get prime selection, whereas the last person to select their mask, even though it may not be their favorite choice, will only have paid a single grain of rice).
  • This is an all or none offer. If even one person fails to complete their side of the bargain, the entire deal is off.
  • That said, if another person wants to take over that person's default in order to complete the offer (hey, masks for rice? Where else will you get a deal like that!), the deal will be completed.
OK, who's in?

Would the 64th person have to give you 9,223,372,036,854,776,000 (9 billion billion) grains of rice?
