Get an Autopap... Resmed S9 Autoset. You can use the autopap in the autopap mode or the cpap mode... best of both worlds.... if you get a cpap machine, you can only use it ina cpap mode...

What the Sheriff said... get an auto and it can be used in both auto and cpap, but a straight cpap can not be used in auto. I have both, I was sold a "brick" when I first started out and was fortunate enough to buy a slightly used auto from another forum member.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

I think there was a poll on this not that long ago.

When you look at the prices it doesn't make sense to me to get a straight CPAP *unless* you are paying out of pocket and have a very restricted budget. Then it might make more sense to get a basic brick since you'll at least have therapy.

Unfortunately, most such people really need the APAP so they can work on their therapy, which bricks don't allow for.

The question was what % of cpap users use apap. I know most of us should have
a data capable machine but that wasn't the question.

100% of the people in my house have used an auto machine. I can't speak for anyone else.

Start a poll & see what answers you get.

I can only assume that "informed users" here may have a higher % usage of APAP than the general public.

Maybe this old poll will help you find what you need.
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=58773&st=0&sk=t&sd= ... =APAP+poll

BTW I started with APAP mode on my cpap/apap machine and I continue with auto adjusting mode on my bilevel pressure machine.

Get the APAP capable machine if you can....better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Lets just drop this subject. And I was asking about the general population not people like us
who take this real seriously. I don't need to be sold on an apap I have 2 and 2 bricks. Sorry
if I was short with anyone I have had a cold for the past couple of days and it has made me
irritable. Not to mention the joy of coughing and snezeing with a full face mask.

I don't think anyone here knows the answer to your question. Why don't you do some searching on line and if you find the answer, let us know. Maybe one of the manufacturers has data on this. Hope you feel better soon.

So you would answer the poll "2 out of 4"?

A Resmed S9 Elite is a data capable cpap-only machine... not a brick... Just sayin'... S9 autopap is a little more and you get both features.

Do you mean - how many people have an APAP and use it in APAP mode (set at a range of pressures rather than a single pressure)?

Lots have APAPs and use then in straight CPAP mode.
