I'm getting tired of booting to windows just to check the card, does anyone out there have encore pro and my encore running in Linux?
what are the steps for getting it running?
I'm running Kubuntu at the moment.

Brian,
One of the regular posters here, yardbird, has done exactly what you describe. He uses Ubuntu with a virtual Windows machine set up with VMWare, and then runs Encore Pro in the virtual machine. He has said that works out much better than the dual-booting arrangement.
One of these days, I'm gonna load up Linux again, run Windows in a virtual machine only for those few specialized apps, like Encore Pro, that won't run in Linux. That's just not yet at the top of my list though.
If Yardbird doesn't respond to your post and you want more details, you might send him a PM. I'm pretty sure he'd love to tell you all the details.
Regards,
Bill

As I recall, Yardbird said he used only the free/demo version, and never had a need to buy VMWare, because the free version would still run after the time limit expired. I took that to mean that he couldn't make changes to his virtual machine, but that the virtual machine was still perfectly functional.

Yes, several of us run it under VWMARE in Linux
Here is a link to a thread where we were all discussing it.

I have a Novell Linux Desktop with vmware 5 running. I powered on a Windows 2000 server under vmware, Installed the software, Installed the Card reader driver, and in vmware I chose, VM, Removable Devices, USB Devices, Infineer USB Device: Port 1. Then I put the card in the card reader, started EncorePro and read my card. So yes, you can run Encorepro on On Linux if you have vmware and a Windows session under vmware.
Good luck
