Managed to keep the mask on for 5.5 hours last night, but I was able to fall asleep within 15 minutes of masking up and stay asleep for a little over 5 hours (as opposed to two or three hours, as I've been doing for the past month). My body seems to be adjusting to some new medication and the sleeplessness is getting better. The sleep doc suggested that I set a later bedtime instead of tossing and turning for an hour or two before finally falling asleep, and it seems to have worked last night.
Unfortunately, the last two hours of sleep were plagued with large leaks, and my AHI was 6.0. However, compared to the 108 events/hour I had during my sleep study diagnositic phase, I'd say that's an improvement. No CA's or OSA's once I fell asleep , either, they were all hypopneas.
Five hours of sleep with the machine working properly is better than 10 hours of sleep without it.
A little bit of progress

Re: A little bit of progress
thanks, everybody. With your help, I've gone from "I'll never get used to this f#%@*#%@ machine," to "okay, this is manageable, and it'll probably get better with time."

I'm taking baby steps too Ellen! I've made it to day 15 and it is so wonderful to wake up without a headache. Sounds like you're headed in the right direction. I think I can, I think I can!
Keep up the good work!
