New user....scratchy throat

Post by Go-dog-go » Sun Sep 01, 2013 11:56 am

This is my ninth day if therapy and I believe I'm doing very well. I did notice yesterday that my throat is feeling scratchy and today it's a little sore. I use the humidifier....set on level 3 with the temperature at 76 degrees. It's pollen season here but I'm taking an antihistamine every day.

I'll entertain any suggestions that may ease this sore throat. Many thanks!

Hi, welcome! Its pollen season here, too (bad) and my fall allergies are acting up also. Antihistamines will dry you out. Try drinking more fluids. Hope you feel better soon.

Increasing fluids sounds like a good plan.
As a kid, I treated a sore throat (effectively) with ice cream.
These days, it would push my glucose too high.

In addition to making sure that you keep yourself well hydrated, you might also want to try bumping that humidity level up a notch without turning the temp on your hose up. That may also help. Some of us have noses that like lots and lots of humidity.

Did adjusting the humidity up a little as Robysue suggested help?

It did help DJD52.....I bumped the humidity up to 3.5 and that seems to be working!
