Strange noise upon exhaling with only mask and hose

As I put on my mask fist, then attach the hose, and then connect it to the machine, I get a strange reverberating noise as I exhale, before I attatch the hose to the machine. Is this something I can fix, where does it come from, or is it a problem with mask valve? Thanks for any views

It is probably the anti-asphyxiation valve that does that.

As long as the noise does not happen when you are plugged in and running, there is no problem.

Thanks for the replies. I`ve been experiencing this when I`m hooked up and sleeping, and its forced me to take off my mask - any ideas on how to cure this, or is it time for a mask replacement after only 3 months??

Yes or just the silicon liner.

The F-P flexifit masks have a peculiar design of anti-asphyxiation valve that may get stuck in a bad position,
creating noise and loss of therapy air. It is possible to manually reposition the valve,
but you may eventually need to replace the elbow assembly.
