....Or Jeff might take apart a previous S9 first, assuming he has one. He might be able to swap parts from non-ASV to ASV. A complete S9 motor swap would be one scenario. Bearing swap is another workable scenario.

That's a lot of great info SWS, thanks a bunch.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Make sure the motor is the same between models!

ASVs often use much more robust blowers because ASV therapy is much harder on the equipment than constant pressure. A non-ASV motor might not stand up to ASV usage.

I imagine the service manual would tell you that for sure, though.

Took it in to DME today and they are sending it off to Resmed. Loaned me a brand new Resp. System One bi-pap. Tried it out to see how it feels and it is sure different from the ASV. Really quick drop in pressure on epap.

Thanks for all the ideas from everyone. I'll let you know what happens.

Well, that didn't work. Tried using the bi-pap for about 50 minutes and had an AHI of 53.8! Kept having centrals and waking myself up. Luckily Patty (my GF) can pretty much sleep thru anything and she let me use her ASV and she got out her old S9 Elite to use. Hopefully they can get my machine fixed in a hurry. We really need a back up machine.

So after calling Secondwind about a used machine, I got a call from my DME. When they called Resmed to get a return authorization they discovered that I still had TWO DAYS of warranty left. They are going to send me a new machine! Every now and then I actually get lucky.

It's so rare that things break in one's favor like that! That's great news!

JeffH, frankly, I've been VERY impressed with my dealings with Resmed over the past five years or so. But it's GREAT to see them take customer service seriously.

Woot!

Did they say how long it will take to get the new machine to you?

Three to five days. I hope they hurry, I'm using Patty's machine. She can sleep thru anything and if things aren't just right I can't sleep at all. She loaned me her ASV and she is using her old S9 Elite. She doesn't feel as good but at least she is sleeping, which is more than I could do the first night I tried that bi-pap.
