Finally -- my initial results
Finally -- my initial results
I just got the results from my sleep test (ResMed Apnea Link) and they said I had 26 events per hour and my saturation dipped to 85% on a few occasions. So I'm considered "moderate" (where does severe begin?). I start my titration study on Aug 7th, it lasts a week. It sucks that I have sleep apnea but at the same time there's a lot of relief in KNOWING for sure now, instead of just wondering. And of course now there's the possibility of easing the symptoms which is hopeful and wonderful.
Re: Finally -- my initial results
I know what you mean about it being a relief to know that you now have a face and a name that explains feeling so bad and a way to fight it. I was relieved too.
I think "severe" begins at 30 events per hour average..though don't put too much stock in those numbers. They don't take into account oxygen levels which are kinda important.
The treatment is the same no matter what the official label.
So it sounds like they are going to be doing a week long titration with APAP machine at home and then decide optimal pressure???
Have you read this stuff yet? So that you know what to expect from DME and your insurance?

and this about full data machines (which you want)

Re: Finally -- my initial results
26 is pretty high, severe starts at 30.
Congrats on the proper diagnosis, I'm just slightly behind you, 1 week till my results, 2 weeks till a consultation with the specialist, and if there's a titration, a few weeks after that.
I know the relief a diagnosis can bring. It's reassuring to find out that they can now find a way to fix you up.

Re: Finally -- my initial results
once you get over the shock of being diagnosed, the next step will be acclimating to the CPAP air flow and wearing a mask while sleeping.
I highly recommend that you go to this blog and read up on the overall process!
