I bought my cpap several years ago (no insurance so I pay for everything myself). It's starting to wear out so I need a new one. I am using a remstar machine and really like it so I'd like to get a new one. Looking at the machines on cpap.com, there are several different models so its a bit confusing. Which of these is the 'latest and greatest'? My prescription is for the standard cpap (9.5 to 11). I'd love to try some of the new stuff that auto adjusts and stuff.
Looking for suggestions and notes about what would be the best machine to buy.
latest remstar cpap?
Re: latest remstar cpap?
Your prescribed pressures of 9.5 to 11 sure makes it sound like you have an auto, not a straight CPAP.
RemStars are Philips Respironics machines. They put that name on every one. For a straight
CPAP, the current model you want is the System One RemStar Pro (not Plus) C-Flex+ 60-series.
The Auto is the System One RemStar Auto A-Flex 60 Series.
If you want to take a look at ResMed, the straight CPAP is the S9 Elite (not Escape) and
the Auto is the S9 AutoSet (not Escape Auto).
All of the models suggested have full efficacy data available. That means that you can use
PC software to monitor your therapy. Once you have your machine, we can help
you get the appropriate software.

yea, I have the machine noted in my sig. Question is though, whats the 'latest' model they have of this machine? I'm seeing remstar pro, remstar etc.etc.etc. Don't know which is which.
specifically, what is the difference between these two? Are they both the same machine? Which one is newer?

Re: latest remstar cpap?
The machine in the first link is the latest one.
The major difference between it and the one in the second link is the heated tube. This
reduces rainout, or water condensation in the tube, a problem for many users. Other differences
are a backlight for the LCD display, and some new software features like humidifier preheat and
mask leak test.

Re: latest remstar cpap?
The backlight and humidifier preheat were added to the 550 back in 2011, based off of the content of my 450's manual insert page. The features that I know are new are: heated tube, auto-trial (run as auto for a specified number of nights, then switch to CPAP-check at the 90% pressure), and CPAP-check (CPAP, but can adjust the pressure up or down by 1cm once every thirty hours, to a maximum difference from the set CPAP pressure of 3cm).jdm2857 wrote:The machine in the first link is the latest one.

Re: latest remstar cpap?
All the Series 60 machines are the same generation. Different models with different features, but all of the same generation. The Series 60's replaced the Series 50 machines.allennosleep wrote:yea, I have the machine noted in my sig. Question is though, whats the 'latest' model they have of this machine? The Series 60 models are:
The Plus with C-Flex (260) is the basic brick
The Pro with C-Flex+ (460) is the full efficacy data FIXED pressure CPAP
the AutoPAP with A-Flex (560) is the full efficacy data APAP
The series 50 machines are one-half generation back, but they have the same model names:
The Plus with C-Flex (250) is the basic brick
The Pro with C-Flex+ (450) is the full efficacy data FIXED pressure CPAP
the AutoPAP with A-Flex (550) is the full efficacy data APAP
The top link is for the CURRENT Series 60 System One APAP. The bottom link is for the (slightly) older Series 50 APAP.specifically, what is the difference between these two? Are they both the same machine? Which one is newer?

and
https://www.cpap.com/cpap-machine/respi ... -flex.html
The main difference between the two machines? The Series 60 machines have an optional integrated heated hose.
And at least on the Mac, SleepyHead works seamlessly with the Series 50 machines, but requires installing a patch before it will work with the Series 60 machines. On the PC side, can someone help me out? Does the most recent PC version of SleepyHead deal with the Series 60 machines yet?

Re: latest remstar cpap?
Yes, the most recent Windows version 0.9.3 Beta dated May 19, 2013 includes the Patch file fix in the install and no additional work is needed to get 60 series data.robysue wrote:On the PC side, can someone help me out? So far the only machines having trouble with SleepyHead 0.9.3 are the 950...it's hit or miss and mostly miss.
and the 960 which won't work at all with SH...Encore Viewer 2.1 or EncoreBasic 2.2 or even Encore Pro 2.11 (the latest that I know where to find)...there is supposed to be a Pro 2.12 that will work with the 960 but I haven't been able to get my grubby little paws on it yet.
So we are good to go for the 460/560/760 but the 950 and 960 we aren't.
There was some problems with the Mac with the Patch file and the 760 but I haven't heard about any lately.
Edit: BTW for any Resmed S9 users...the latest version I mentioned above also fixes some of the minor bugs like the double session bug. So it was more than just an easier way to get the Patch file...it addressed other bugs too.
All you have to do is uninstall your current Windows version of SleepyHead and install the latest version. Your old data is stored in a MyDocuments folder called SleepyHead App and it is untouched by the uninstall...so you lose nothing and don't have to do any thing special.
