RDI Magic Number
RDI Magic Number
I know that 5 seems to be the magic number for AHI. Is there one for RDI?

Mild 5-15
Moderate 15-30
Severe greater than 30

Re: RDI Magic Number
Generally speaking, 5 seems to be the common boundary for normal vs. mild sleep disordered breathing of some sort.
For the most part RDI includes RERAs (if your lab scores them) and AHI does not.
A few places, like the lab that did my diagnostic work back in 2010, score both hypopneas under both the "recommended standard" and the "alternative standard". In this case, RDI will include the hypopneas scored under the "alternative standard" that don't meet the criteria for scoring under the "recommended standard" and AHI may include only the hypopneas scored under the "recommended standard".

Re: RDI Magic Number
Thanks. I should perhaps have said that I understand that RDI = AHI + RERAs, and that 5-15 is mild SA, etc.
But that 5-15 seems to be for AHI. I haven't seen any numbers for RDI, and since the software doesn't report RDIs, ....
So, is there a "rating" for RDI?

Yes...it's pretty much the same as AHI scoring.pikov22 wrote:So, is there a "rating" for RDI?

I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.

Yes, I see that it is. Too bad that Sleepyhead forces me to add RERA and AHI by myself.Pugsy wrote:Yes...it's pretty much the same as AHI scoring.pikov22 wrote:So, is there a "rating" for RDI?
Since RERAs are "arousals", I think that for some people, they are quite important to how sleepy one feels the next day.
Thanks.

Re: RDI Magic Number
You can change SleepyHead to do RDI if you want. Have you seen that choice?pikov22 wrote:Too bad that Sleepyhead forces me to add RERA and AHI by myself.
Preferences/CPAP tab...upper right side just below clock drift....you can change it for RDI instead of AHI .
If you don't have many RERAs it may not impact the numbers all that much.

Re: RDI Magic Number
I switch over to RDI with my unit. I like to call it my wakefulness index since I do have some RERAs as well. I find that the RDI index is one of the factors that will determine how much energy I will have in the mornings.

Hmmm...my recent RDIs: 9, 14, 12, 11, 10, 8. As high as 21 in the last two months.
