I hate to complain, but after all these years I am still struggling with cpap..I can only tolerate four hours of cpap no matter what...Not only do I have sleep apnea, but emphysema too. I was wondering if there is such a thing as oxygen cpap instead of air..Here in Ohio right now we are in a heat wave with heat index over 100..I am having a hard time breathing outside and feel like crap when the work day is done.. I have had three doctors and six sleep studies and all they do is change my pressure...Anyone else had this problem.....

Oxygen
Re: Oxygen
They can add Oxygen to your CPAP air. You would have an Oxygen machine running as well as the CPAP. The oxygen hose would enter the CPAP air system somewhere after the blower. For some systems it is an adapter that attaches where the hose normally attaches to the CPAP machine, and for others the oxygen attaches at the mask end. Either way it supplements the air being blown with pure oxygen.glenwood73 wrote:I hate to complain, but after all these years I am still struggling with cpap..I can only tolerate four hours of cpap no matter what...Not only do I have sleep apnea, but emphysema too. Most of the time the sleep study should detect that even with the pressure your blood oxygen is still dipping too low, and they add oxygen to the sleep study to figure out the levels needed for your Rx. If they never did that with you then it means your blood oxygen was staying in normal range.
Re: Oxygen
Those two little capped things on the mask near the hose unscrew to be used for 02... I have the same mask.
Re: Oxygen
Did you have a full in-lab sleep study? Or an at-home sleep evaluation and auto titration?
Have you asked your family doctor for a spirometry or pulmonary function test? I certainly would given the symptoms you are encountering. And if you didn't have a full in-lab sleep study I would request and overnight oximetry as well

Yes, I have had six overnight sleep studies done..The last one was by a specialist and he adjusted my pressure to 13 and prescribed nuvigil, which costs $600.00 a month...
