increased APO/HPO with full face
I switched to a full face mask for 3 months ago i noticed my APO/HP was increasing each night I had my card downloaded and no leaks were shown but I just was not getting the treatment I had been when on my nasel mask . I was still dealing with dry mouth with the full face so 3 nights ago I went back to my nasel mask and tapping my mouth . My APO/HP have started decreasing quickly I have noticed I'm more awake the past day . I have an appoint. with mt DME next week to download my card and see what is going on . As far as I'm concerned I do better on my nasel and tape . No uncomfortable hot chin strap.

Re: increased APO/HPO with full face
Some people need a little more pressure with a full face mask to better prevent the apneas than they do with a nasal mask.
Maybe you are one of those people. You wouldn't be alone in that regard.

Re: increased APO/HPO with full face
This happens to me -- lower pressures are needed on my APAP machine with nasal masks and when using ResMed brand FF masks. Higher pressures are needed by the machine when using the PR FullLife FF and the Hans Rudolph V2 FF. I have yet to understand why, but I speculate some FF masks' headgear needs to be tighter and that pushes my jaw back which then ups my pressure needs. Some masks can fit looser, so my jaw can stay forward and lowers my pressures. Or perhaps its the venting, the pressure drops, or that the surface area over the face needing to be pressurized is larger on some masks than on others, like the relatively small footprint of the Quattro FX. So that may impact things. I have no clue, but I have just learned to accept it as 'normal'.

Re: increased APO/HPO with full face
Yea your probably right about the need for an increase in pressure I originaly had my full face on APAP with a max pressure of 16 I would be awakened frequently in the night with my machine blowing loudly and my mask leaking I would tighten the mask to the point of uncomfortable even with the wonderful pad a cheek liner . I switched to CPAP at a setting of 14.5 and did this for a full month before giving up when my APO's reached 5 . At that point I went back to my nasel and my APO's are already at 2 according to my machine in 3 nights.
