Recommend an oximeter?
I wanna screw around with one, esp. since I have a piece-a-shit brick of a machine that I can't get any data out of and no health insurance. What's one I can grab off of Amazon or whatever, for a sane amount of money, and with enough data for me to play with.
Re: Recommend an oximeter?
I'm not sure you can find a POS that has recording abilities that you need. The least expensive one that I have found has been recommended by lots of folks here on the forum. The COntec 50CMSD. You can find it here: http://www.pulseoxstore.com/Downloadable-Pulse-Ox.html Kevin Cooper of Cooper Medical (who runs the site in the link) is very helpful and gives great service. I bought the CMS50F and have been happy with my purchase.

These models...
You need to look closely at what you are seeing on Amazon or EBay...some are cheaper but don't record all night.

I have the CMS 50D Plus that Plus is very important...the CMS 50D doesn't record all night.
I think the one I have can be found on EBay for around $45 from a seller in China. I don't know about Amazon sellers.
So just be careful. If it's real cheap it probably is just a spot check unit and won't record all night.
Would you consider gently used machine? Low hours.
You can buy a S9 AutoSet or Elite from secondwindcpap.com and use it with your existing humidifier.

Elite used without humidifier $369
AutoSet used without humidifier $479
I know times are tight with you losing your job and insurance but sometimes forum members have full data machines to sell.

Wow, yeah, I didn't realize I could get one that cheap without the humidifier. By the time I buy a pulse ox, I could just have a data-capable machine. How does it get programmed, though? Do you have to go up in the data to set the CM?Pugsy wrote: Would you consider gently used machine? Low hours.

Yes, you go into the clinical setup menu but that's easy to do.Black Shampoo wrote:How does it get programmed, though? Do you have to go up in the data to set the CM?

Re: Recommend an oximeter?
The data-capable machine will definitely get you the most real information.
I did a little sleuthing with an overnight pulse oximeter while waiting to see the sleep doc. As mentioned, if you get the CMS50D+, make sure it's the "+" and not the plain old CMS50D. However, note that a clip-type oximeter will irritate your finger overnight. You might be fine for a whole night, or a few, but if you're going to be using it regularly you really want a slip-on sensor with a wrist strap like the CMS50F.

And make sure not to lose the USB cable that comes with it looks like a plain USB cable
but it isn't. I just had to buy a replacement at $12. Oh I had 3 here that would fit but
the wiring is just a little diferent.

Re: Recommend an oximeter?
I bought a CMS 50F from Kevin Cooper of Cooper Medical a while back.
The purchase went smoothly and the unit worked fine.
Later I asked for a convenience request that took a significant amount
of his time, a favor beyond what a big box store would do. He agreed
with politeness.
He did not charge me for his time and shipped the additional item to
me free of charge. (I hope others don't use this information to
pressure him to go beyond what is financially reasonable for a business.)
Mr.Cooper provides detailed emails to help you make a decision. He
writes and acts with patience. I highly recommend buying from Cooper
Medical. (pulseoxstore.com)

Re: Recommend an oximeter?
I got mine (CMS50D Plus) thru Medical Test supply out of indiana for about $64 they had free shipping and it came pretty fast. I priced around on the internet and that was the least expensive I could find. so far i've been really happy with it once I finally figured out how to download the information--I'd about given up until someone from this site posted how to do it! (the instructions given are extremely vague and assume you know certain things)
