Wisp??

I like the Wisp mask and have been using it for a few months. I have some issues with PR's mask sizing theories, but by and large it works for me. The silicon frame is bulky however it does tend to stay in place. On my particular nose it seems to leak a little bit, so now I'm testing the new Pad a Cheek mask liner made specifically for it. This fits perfectly to the mask and works fairly well so far... It doesn't really stop the leaks but kind of muffles them so they don't suddenly pop out and wake you up in the middle of the night.

I have not tried them yet because I haven't found a mask I like enough. But, I plan on it when I find my mask. The problem with my current nasal mask is because it is too large. I went on their website and printed the template and checked my size. Good to know she makes them for the wisp, I was wondering that.

Yes, I know what you mean, about not wanting to order until you find the mask you really know you want to keep with. That is exactly what I had been feeling- and it has been difficult for me to figure out which mask works best for me. I had ordered the pad a cheek right after getting the wisp, and then canceled my order because I wasn't sure.

Then a few weeks later, I decided just to give it a try, because when I emailed Karen from pad a cheek, she said "If you want to order one and see how it helps, I would love for you to do that. If it works, great! If it does not help, I need to know that too. We will refund your total cost if it does not help you." (excerpt from an email to pad a cheek).

I have never been able to settle down to only one mask. I have nights when my current favorite is really aggravating so I dig in my mask drawer until I find one that I can tolerate. I do wish I had one favorite that worked every night but so far I haven't found it unless the Wisp will be it.

I switched from the Swift FX (due to nose bridge pain) to the Wisp. Last night was my first with it. I woke up 5x unable to breathe. I had to pull it fully up off my nose and reset it because it felt "collapsed" on my nose. My SH flow plot was "awful".

This AM when i got up with that situation once again, i looked in the mirror. The bottom seal was closing off my nostrils. I will try to readjust the straps lower tonight, it must be "me" because everyone seems to have no problem like this...

I love the ESON, I consistently have an AHI under 5 and regularly hit 0. I wanted to love the Wisp but it didn't work for me.

The Nano looks interesting too. I'm going to check it out.

Assuming you have the correct size, make sure it isn't sitting too high on your nose. The bottom seal should not be touching your nostrils, but sitting just above your upper lip.

I'm almost 5 months in and still trying to find the mask for me.

Mirage Liberty Hybrid - so, so. Not my fav....nasal pillows leak EXTREMELY easily!! Not great at higher pressure...problems with leaks.

Tap Pap - love the no headgear...very comfortable, pillows do NOT leak. But, I mouth breathe and drool more with this mask and I get a recurring canker sore. Taping and chin strap did not help. Not working for me.

Mirage Quattro FFM - they gave me too big a size. Forget it, I tried all the tips, couldn't stop it from leaking EVERYWHERE. Not sure if it was simply because it was too big or if it was because it didn't fit my face well. I really wanted a FFM mask to work.

True Blue Nasal Mask - they gave me too big a size, but if I had to pick, this would be my fav. For some reason I tend to keep my mouth shut pretty well with this type of mask. I think I want to go with a nasal mask instead of pillows. But, I get bad red marks on the bridge of my nose which stay for DAYS. That is why I am thinking of the Wisp because it is so small. How is it for leaving marks? How about for leaks?

I am a sometimes mouth breather. Used a clap cap for couple of years. It's good....
Now I'm using a cushion that mimics a cervical collar. It just physically stops my mouth from dropping open. The dme confirms--no leakage on my S8 printout. (Now I have an S9, used. I haven't tracked with it.

Mine is a simple pad that i hold in place with a simple strap...works well.

Day 2 was better, but throughout the night it would slide up to my nostrils in spite of the fact i tried to loosen the top strap to keep it lower. Also, the upper portion of my nose bridge was very red when i got up. That cleared up right away but it was a bit disconcerting seeing "Rudolph" in the mirror. Thanks for input!

I've been using the Wisp for 2 moths now.
Before the Wisp I used the Mirage Activa LT for 2 years. I liked this mask.
But, less is better for me so I ordered the Wisp from CPap.com with the insurance just in case it didn't work.

I've used the Wisp every night since it arrived.
I do like that it's not as intrusive and I love no forehead support.
I use a liner under the cushion.
It doesn't leak much on me at all. About the same as the Activa.
I wear it low as suggested above and I have the fabric straps.
The headgear is very comfortable and does not slip.

Everyone is so different as to what works and what they feel comfortable in.
But with the insurance your not risking as much money to try it.

I got the Swift FX Nano, and LOVE it! It is so light and I have very little problems with leaks. Occasionally I might get a bit of a leak at the bridge of my nose, but all I do it tuck that area of the mask in and I'm back to sleep.

I tried the Wisp, but it was just too much mask for me. Too much head gear, and the nasal portion leaked like a siv.

I also purchase a Swift Fx Nose pillow piece and the bella straps just to switch things up. The Swift Fx head gear is interchangeable with both the pillows and the Nano nasal portion. I don't think the bella straps would work with the Nano nose piece - too heavy.

That's my 2 cents worth... hope it helps!

I have the same issue with it. It fits and seals very comfortably, but my congestion "feeling" seems to worsen considerably with it. I wonder if it's the positioning, from just resting on the sinuses?

I think that is it. I put the large cushion on and tried it today and I think it may work even though the measuring thing said S/M. It didn't seem like it was going to leak during my test today. I will find out tonight.

With the Wisp, if you are feeling congested or one or both of your nostrils feels partially compressed, it relates to the size and position of the nosepiece:

Try the next largest size nosepiece and/or make sure the bottom of the triangle is resting just above your upper lip, not against the bottom of your nose, leaving you sufficient room so that your nostrils are not being pressed inward from the sides or upward from the bottom.

And if it does not stay in that position all night, very teeny adjustments to the bottom or top straps can cure that slippage without pressing on your nose. Also keep in mind that you can influence the angle at which the nosepiece rests upon your face by choosing to make a teeny adjustment to only the upper strap or only the bottom strap, tipping it a little only from the top or only from the bottom.

And it doesn't have to be adjusted absolutely perfectly, since the inflatable lip will compensate for minor differences anyway, once the air inflates the nosepiece against your face while you are lying horizontally.

Thanks Nate. I really want to love this mask. I get tired of digging though the drawer trying to find my nightly favorite but I haven't found one I can use every night.
