Do Tape and TAP PAP MIX?

Post by DarrylM » Fri Jun 28, 2013 10:57 am

I do fine with my Swift FX Pillows. But I purchased the TAP PAP in hopes that I could escape head gear and the chin strap altogether. But when I attempted this, my mouth dropped open in the wee hours of the morning. I returned to my Swift FX pillows. Then it occurred to me that tape and TAP PAP (but no chin strap!) might be worth a try.

I am poised to try the TAP PAP mouth piece again tonight, this time with tape instead of a chin strap. Has anyone done this? Is it possible? Any pointers on using the tape given the obstruction of the mouth piece?

I have done it. I responded a couple of days ago in your other thread about taping.

Yes. Thank you. I am sorry it did not work for you. I am trying to find someone for whom tape and TAP PAP did work, hoping they might have guidance and tips that might help me be successful.

The only times I taped was with the Tap Pap and I used 2 wide pieces of tape. One on each side of the center. It did work.

Hi DarryIM,

I had luck one night with a long strip of tape which I awkwardly put on my lips in a "U" shape to go under the TAP PAP plastic piece (and lower lip) at the center of my mouth and then up each of the sides of my lips. It seemed to be enough, even though it wasn't as well sealed as I might have thought was going to be required.

I like seeing other's suggestions on this, and hearing any solutions you find work for you. My mouth and lips don't stay "trained" and I'll revert to taping from time to time.
