I have been using the s9 with the humidifier for 3 days now. My AHI has been between 1.5 and 6 but I looked at my settings today and my machine is set to 4 minimum and 20 maximum. When I went to my sleep titration my best pressure was 13. Is it odd that it would be set so high? I downloaded sleepy head and it did say that my pressure was up to 20 at different times of the night. Is that normal? Should I contact my sleep doctor and ask about my settings?
thanks

Re: New User S9 Setting Question
4 to 20 is too wide a span. If you look at your reports and see the med. pressure you will have a better idea where your pressure should be set.

It might help for you to review this recent topic on wide pressure ranges.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
Re: New User S9 Setting Question
4 to 20 is the default setting that the machine ships with. Do you have a copy of your prescription from the sleep doctor? If you don't, and you know for sure your best pressure was 13 at the titration, you could try 12 to 20 and see how that goes.
If 12 feels like a lot starting out, you could lower it a bit or use ramp. If it's hard to exhale, try turning on EPR at a setting of 1 or 2.

Re: New User S9 Setting Question
Why not start out w/ EPR at 3? I've had it on 3 ever since I got mine a few months ago. For me, EPR makes all the difference - I couldn't tolerate CPAP without it.
Is there a reason to start out at 1 or 2? Just wondering if it somehow affects treatment if it's on 3.

Re: New User S9 Setting Question
If EPR 3 feels fine to you, there's no problem. But since EPR 1 is like a 1cm drop in EPAP, and EPR 2 is a 2cm drop, it might be better to try those first, for someone who hasn't tried EPR. Some people might notice a difference in therapy if EPR 3 lets more OAs through, but I think it's the exception rather than the rule.onthefreeway wrote:Why not start out w/ EPR at 3? I think it's always better to start with a minimal setting and see if that works before turning things up, but that's just my opinion.

Re: New User S9 Setting Question
My optimal pressure during my last sleep study, from a year ago, also was 13 cm on CPAP. So I set my S9 Autoset on APAP with 13 cm as maximum and 9 cm as min, and EPR=3. But after using this set-up for a few nights I have refined it by raising both pressures as to 1) confine the pressure graph within these limits, and 2) raise the lower pressure a bit more to take care of my Flow Limitation.bluetowelboy wrote:I have been using the s9 with the humidifier for 3 days now. In ResScan:

I like to set the min limit close to the actual pressure graph b/c I don't want the machine to waste time responding to events. And the max pressure as to not have it too hi above the graph pressure so that it would not rise suddenly and give me an emergent Central Event.
