Is the remstar plus a dumb machine? That's what they sent me. I read on this board about sleepyhead software and I do 't think it is compatable with my machine.
Am I allowed to return it for an upgrade? Is sleepyhead valuable? Is it worth the trouble to deal with the DME?
Thanks

You might want to read this. Be sure to read all the way to the bottom of the blog.

The Remstar Plus only collects hours of use to prove to insurance company that it is being used enough to meet compliance requirements or not. If it doesn't have CFlex exhale relief then it is the most basic of machines.
Is it worth it to have access to full data and use the software?
It is to me. Some people don't care and do quite well.
Let me ask you a question....what are you going to do if you aren't feeling so great or maybe having some leaks but don't know if they are bad enough to impact therapy?
See this thread for some examples of what can be seen using SleepyHead (or other software)

BTW....when I first started therapy I felt horrible. Zero improvement. Once I got the software that was available at the time I found out that my AHI was still in the double digits. My pressure wasn't optimal....I needed a little more pressure and once that was figured out and implemented I started feeling better.
Never would have know about it without data.
Without data do you know what the DME and doctors say when you go back and say "I don't feel so great".....they say "give it time"...well no amount of time in the world will fix sub optimal therapy or bad leaks if you don't know about them.
