ASV "low pressure support" error and alarm
ASV "low pressure support" error and alarm
I know there are a few other ASV users on here, so I am hoping someone can lend me a hand.
Using my F&P Forma mask I have never had an alarm on my ASV, but when I swapped to trying out the new Quattro Air I get an alarm that wakes me up every half hour or so. The front panel on the PR ASV (seen in my equipment list below) shows "low pressure support."
Everything I can find says this may be due to a blockage or a very large leak. If I compare my Encore output between nights I wear my Forma and when I wear the Air I am seeing about the same numbers for leaks. The numbers are not great since I have heavy facial hair and have not been able to get a real handle on the leaks, but they do not seem to differ between the two masks.
The Air actually feels better on my face, and just running a finger around the edges of the both masks when under pressure makes it seem like the Air has less of a leak problem than the Forma. I cannot find any blockages in the air intake, and no trapped water anywhere in the system.
Any other ideas of things to check or what else might be causing the issue. I may have to use the return insurance on the Air because my machine and I have differing opinions on how much we like this mask.

Re: ASV "low pressure support" error and alarm
You might want to try a mask liner .. sometimes that helps.

Thanks for the advice John, but I am way ahead of you this one time . Using the pad-a-cheek liner for the Forma already, and I have one I need to modify for the Air until they come out with a custom fit one.
I am hoping it makes the leak line even better on the Air. Assuming I can get this other issue handled.

Glad you have the mask liner. It can help.
I frankly just disabled the alarm, since it was going off when I would hit my lowest point of sleeping - and shallowest breathing. I don't get headaches, so breathing shallowly is not too much of a problem. But that buzzer was enough to make me want to trash a several thousand dollar machine! .. So, no buzz and I'm a happy camper!

Re: ASV "low pressure support" error and alarm
How does one turn this alarm off?
I turned the setting for the alarm to "0" (zero) and understood from the
provider manual that that setting turned the alarm off, yet it has gone
off the last two nights at roughly the same time and is a pain to turn off
as hitting the "silence alarm" button turns it off only a few minutes and
then the alarm sound again. Hard to cope with when half asleep at 5:00
in the morning.
What am I missing here to silence the alarm permanantly?
Thanks
Fred

Unfortunately, I don't have the provider's manual. I seem to remember doing something. I know one time it required a new mask. I suspect the newer mask you have has a higher standard leak rate (it vents more than your previous mask). I'll hunt to see if I can find anything.

Re: ASV "low pressure support" error and alarm
Does your clinical menu setup include the "Patient disconnect alarm"?
It can be disabled by setting it to 0.
This appears to be a separate setting feature from the "low min vent alarm" which also is disabled by setting it to 0.
I can get you a link for the pdf download for the 950 machine...I don't have one for the 960 though.
Let me know if you want it.

Re: ASV "low pressure support" error and alarm
The patient disconnect alarm was already set to zero when the alarm sounded. In fact, all of the alarms were set to zero (which is why the low pressure alarm going off baffled me).
So, I'm still not positive why it went off given the settings.
Thanks for the info (and the suggestions) and I already have the manual.
I'll see if it reoccurs tonight.
Fred

Did you ever sort out the beeping problem on your ASV I've got that happening on my autoSV 950P and have all my alarms set to zero, however I still get the one loud beep at least once a night, usually more. It may be related to my mask or to low pressure, but I'm not sure. I'm still using the v.1.02 firmware. Any help would be appreciated, SNO.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
