Swift FX Bella, any ideas???
Swift FX Bella, any ideas???
I have been using an OptiLife for over 5 years but I have long, fine, slick hair and have to braid it and tuck the braid over the bottom strap to keep my mask in place, and I get strap marks that last for a couple of hours. Also, I cannot have any mask parts that come into my line of sight, so the downward tube works... but I have almost no leaks and am a right side/back sleeper, down pillow (squishy )
I am trying the Swift FX Bella loops so that I don't have to have that weird "bump" in the back of my head and constantly braid my hair and maybe lessen the strap marks, I have used it only one night, and at about halfway through I switched back to my old mask because the tube pulling the pillows out of my nose
my question is... is there any solution for the tube in the FX to stay in place yet still be out of my line of vision

Re: Swift FX Bella, any ideas???
When fitting the Swift FX and using the Bella Loops make sure to do the final fitting laying down in bed. The weight of the hose pulling on the loops affects fitting. There is a very fine line with fitting the Loops so there is enough tension to keep the pillows stable and not pinch the ears.
Is this question about using the traditional headgear and routing it over the head in some fashion? Or were you trying to use some hose management system with the Loops?dllynam wrote:is there any solution for the tube in the FX to stay in place yet still be out of my line of vision

I have already tried it laying down, I used the directions from that blog posted on another thread to fit the mask, and it worked well, but when I sleep with either the loops or traditional (tried last night) the hose pulls the pillows from my face and wakes me up... I give up after 3-4 hours and go back to my old mask

Re: Swift FX Bella, any ideas???

even though none of those leaks are LL they still wake me up (the leaks at the end were when I was awake)

Have you tried using a hose hanger to keep the hose suspended above you so that there is no hose weight dragging or pulling against your mask?dllynam wrote:… when I sleep with either the loops or traditional (tried last night) the hose pulls the pillows from my face and wakes me up... Re: Swift FX Bella, any ideas???
I've tried using one before and it freaked me out to have something hanging over me, so no I haven't tried one with the new mask, but probably wouldn't like it if I did, but thanks for the thoughtNateS wrote: Have you tried using a hose hanger to keep the hose suspended above you so that there is no hose weight dragging or pulling against your mask?

Re: Swift FX Bella, any ideas???
The weight of the long hose does pull on the Bella Loops a bit but I was able to get a nice flat leak line with the loops.dllynam wrote: I have already tried it laying down, I used the directions from that blog posted on another thread to fit the mask, and it worked well, but when I sleep with either the loops or traditional (tried last night) the hose pulls the pillows from my face and wakes me up... There's a fine line between enough tension to keep the pillows in place and tension causing ear pain. It took me a week of fiddling with the tension to get it just right though.

Have you tried this hanger? I set it up so the hose is supported off to the side, so it is less likely to hover over you.

That's the one I use too. As you say, you can pretty much arrange it anyway you want, not necessarily directly overhead, and it's also handy because of the little hook for hanging up my mask and chinstrap when I get up.
Also very handy for traveling, as it is collapsible and free-standing when the base is slipped under the mattress. No need to attach or detach it.

Re: Swift FX Bella, any ideas???
Same here, I use the same one, and travel with it, too *smile*. In fact, it always is off to the side, never over my head, since that's where the tube pushes it the way I have things set up. So the arm that holds the tubing is always pretty much aligned with the edge of the bed when I'm facing it sleeping on my side. When I'm facing away from it, I don't much care what it's doing *smile*.NateS wrote:Kitatonic wrote:Have you tried this hanger? Re: Swift FX Bella, any ideas???
ty for trying with the hanger... I just can't use them, but I did take the bella straps and attach them to my OptiLife mask... works great... and I don't have to readjust it all night long

I used some cotton yarn and tied the loops to where the velcro runs through the mask for the head gear
