I went to order a new mask and nasal pillows and I found out my prescription expired. The DME said they would try and get a new one from the sleep doc. I need this stuff before I go out of town next month, and I'm not sure I can get in to my sleep doc quickly. I am seeing my primary care physician already. I'd like him to just write the prescription.
But...I don't know what he should write! I don't need a prescription for the machine, but I am eligible for a new mask, hose, humidifier, filters, and nasal pillows. I have no idea what to have him write. Can I get some suggestions?

Re: Prescription Help
Just have him copy the existing prescription with "Mask of patients choice"

Re: Prescription Help
Mask of choice with headgear and cpap supplies. My doctor wrote mask of choice so they were not going to send the headgear. Maybe someone else has a better idea but don't forget to add the headgear.

Thanks, I'll have him write it for this. Unfortunately I don't have a copy of my current one or I would just have him copy it.Stormynights wrote:Mask of choice with headgear and cpap supplies. I would also add to the good advice you have already gotten:mnfe wrote:I went to order a new mask and nasal pillows and I found out my prescription expired. When you are really in a hurry to get something from a doctor's office, I find it is best to call, make the request and tell them you are on your way to drive over and pick it up, for hand-delivery by you to the dispensary or DME. Any doctor in the office can sign the Rx as can a nurse practitioner in most states.
That request will move it up the chain of command to someone ion the office with authority, rather than being at the mercy of someone at the low end of the chain.
Regards, Nate

Re: Prescription Help
Even your dentist can write a prescription, especially if you've ever fallen asleep in his chair.
