I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
Re: FOR SALE ResMed Vantage Autopap S8 $175 plus shipping
Choice to sell is based on my own needs which are legitimate and not in the least bit selfish. But I appreciate the sentiment.

Is there a bit of sexual bias going on here? If a male had listed this machine would he have received so many well meaning suggestions that he give rather than sell the machine? Or that it be kept for back up. Somehow I don't think so. By the time someone, female or male, has gone through the decision making process of whether to sell or give or keep as a back up a machine and they have come to the conclusion they want to sell, then it should be assumed their decision is valid and not to be questioned. I went through that decision making process.
Do I have equal rights here to list a machine with all the pertinent info without having to jump through hoops?
Buy or don't buy that is a decision the readers can make given the info they have.
The info re the features of the machine are valid and helpful. However, I have had great success with this machine and have never needed the extra features or known how beneficial they are.
This is a used machine, an older model - one step down from the current S9, so buyers should research and buy or not buy.
Re the high hours of use and whether this will last a long time, WHO KNOWS? I'm contacting res med about that to see if they have experience with that question and will post their response. I've never had a machine die on my and wouldn't offer one for sale that would not be a good buy for someone.
I believe the posters have the best interest of future buyers in mind but don't appreciate the patriarchal questioning of my decision to sell.

I CONCUR fully. It's your machine, your call. I have an S8 sitting here in good condition and if anyone needs one and can't afford a new one...Here's TWO choices now. The idea of a "Back-up" machine doesn't make much sence since your machine is calibrated to fit your needs annually during your sleep study. ... My old machine would serve no purpose to me because I have stopped using it now for two years....Bottom line though, "If you want to sell your machine, sell it"...and if you want to buy one, BUY it. If you want to be an expert on the subject of the operations of the machine...go give a class in another chat room.

Also if something goes wrong with my new one they'll have another to me in 8 hours or less.
When my mom got her newest apap machine, the DME said that they carry a pager, so will bring a a loaner machine if there is a failure at night or on a weekend. I am using this DME now, but I don't know if this applies to me since I got my machine at a different DME.
I do think having a backup is a good idea though. My mom has some older machines, so if I had to, I could use one set at straight cpap. Better than nothing. But I do keep an eye for a good ad on craigslist.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

You can try reading the other for sale posts here. We usually try to talk everybody out of selling their machine. In most cases, it is somebody giving up on treatment. So, they really should keep it and keep using it. And since many people here have needed a backup machine, they see it as good advice to keep a machine as a backup.
Personally, I don't check what gender a person is, so until you mentioned it, I had no idea what gender you happen to be. Still don't care. Everybody should have a backup of everything (mask, cushions, hose, filters, and machine).

I agree completely that grace62 has the right to sell her machine, and I wouldn't dream of suggesting that she donate it instead.
What I did try to gently suggest to her was that her machine was the equivalent of 5 to 7 years old depending on whether you figure daily use at 6.5 hours or 10 hours... she has the equivalent of a car with 200,000 miles on it so there doesn't seem to be much, if any, residual value left in the machine for her to sell it.
Two years ago I bought an S8 Elite for $150 with 53 hours on it... secondwind is selling her same machine with low hours (less than 500 - equivalent to 60-65 days of use at most) for $299 with 6 month guarantee.
There doesn't seem to be a big market for machines with close to 20,000 hours on them; that is the sad (depending on how you look at it) truth.

+1 Given the high mileage on your machine, that was what I was trying to imply in a polite way via my suggestion to donate it to a needy person - I guess I missed the mark with the OP. Now after being called a sexist however, I won't lose any sleep over it. I agree with the OP tho, give it away - sell it... entirely your decision and, I might add, we are not here to judge you. How would we even know what you did with the machine?RandyJ wrote:I agree completely that grace62 has the right to sell her machine, and I wouldn't dream of suggesting that she donate it instead.

Re: FOR SALE ResMed Vantage Autopap S8 $150 plus shipping
Thanks to all repliers. What began as a simple desire to sell my machine escalated to more. I have contacted Resmed for info on length of use and will post their response if they respond.
I'll leave this up for a while longer at the lower cost Questions have been raised by posters as to the viability of this machine which may make selling it more difficult. I still think it's a good price for a good machine.
I drive old cars - usually Toyotas or Hondas - because I don't want high car payments or high insurance - and they give me years worth of good service even though I do have to repair them, when repair bills and original cost are figured into yearly cost for the convenience, I come out way ahead.
There may be readers out there who would love a newer machine or one with less "mileage" but who can afford this one. I think that's the person I'm looking for. I'm selling this on another site and hope is does sell.

Contacted Res Med re age of machine
They're getting back to me re age of machine and hours used. Have lowered price.
Re: FOR SALE ResMed Vantage Autopap S8 $125 plus shipping
You need to give it a rest Grace... nobody wants to buy your old machine. Why don't you donate it to your nearest homeless shelter, I'm sure someone will need it.

Re: FOR SALE ResMed Vantage Autopap S8 Not for sa e
You're right. I like the site and will be here to discuss but the machine is not for sale here now. Is there a way to delete a post? I'm still curious re what res med will say so will post that but otherwise I'm not listing this anymore.
