Brand New Quattro AIR FFM + Help!
Hi All,
First post on the forum. I'm on my 3rd week of treatment, had a test, which showed I had 35 AHI, which reduced to ~1.3 after the first week.
I've tried 3 Full face masks:
Week one: Tried the Amara - Very comfortable, but apparently a lot of leaks
Week two: Tried the Mirage Quattro - Comfortable, but leaky at night and a pain to wash. (Data showed I was actually having less leaks than b4.
Week three, I am trying the Resmed Quattro AIR and its great. I am able to sleep on the side and the mask is very comfortable. I am hoping that the leaks will be less too. Because I don't feel any leaks.
Just wanted to let you know that this new FFM is great and the cleaning is very easy.
Question for the veteran hoseheads, despite me improving my AHI a crazy amount, I'm not noticing dramatic improvements. Is that normal?
I AM a bit less tired in the afternoon, but I was expecting to feel like a SUPER HERO after treatment.
Help!

Re: Brand New Quattro AIR FFM + Help!
where did you get it from??
regarding time to feel a difference, it was probably 5-6 months of use for 7 hours a night before I began to feel differences....
But my wife noticed subtle changes in my personality after 3-4 months of use.... she said I was happier and less irritable.

I have been going to my sleep clinic who had a demo that they are letting me use. If they tell me next week that my leaks are good, I will definitely be getting the AIR FFM.
That's really good to hear that it took 5-6 months...was your AHI as bad as mine? What kind of noticeable changes did you notice?
My therapist said that people with such severe apneas usually notice a quick difference.

Re: Brand New Quattro AIR FFM + Help!
Good to know it's starting to arrive in Canada... maybe the US will see it soon
MY AHI at my sleep study was 36....
it took me 2-3 months to get it below 2.0
These days I am averaging right around 0.7, some nights are 1 to 1.5. & I've seen 0.1 a few times
I rarely sleep more than 7 1/2 hours each night....

June 5, release from Resmed San Diego
ResMed (San Diego, CA) is releasing a new latex-free breathing mask for positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy. It weighs only 3.3 ounces (90 grams), making it the lightest full face PAP mask on the market and nearly half the weight of its predecessor, the Mirage Quattro. The mask is available shaped for both men and women, and each comes in three different sizes to fit a variety of faces.
Additionally, ResMed announced the release of SleepSeeker online app that allows patients who use the company’s S9 PAP devices to analyze their own therapy. Data, such as mask leaks, sleeping time, and apnea or hypopnea events, can be viewed after waking thanks to the built-in Bluetooth capabilities inside the S9.
Some of the features of Quattro Air:
•Enhanced dual-wall Spring Air™ cushion, delivering superior comfort at the nasal bridge area and proprietary scalloped cut-out at the chin for a high-performance seal
•Flex-wing forehead support for easy adjustments and stability, eliminating the need for forehead pads
•SoftEdge™ headgear design, which is a rolled-edge fabric that improves comfort and reduces facial marks, available in two colors
•Circular diffuse vent that gently directs air away from the patient and bed partner
•One-piece elbow, swivel and anti-asphyxia valve with squeeze-tabs to make attaching and detaching the mask from the tube quick and easy

As far as I know S9 does not have any built-in Bluetooth capabilities inside. Will they have a new adapter, just like usb adapter 36950 to connect S9 to computer?Denial Dave wrote:Data, such as mask leaks, sleeping time, and apnea or hypopnea events, can be viewed after waking thanks to the built-in Bluetooth capabilities inside the S9.

I'll believe it when I can see and touch, the hardware, view sample data, and a PATIENT tech manual.
Until then, I'm keeping my wallet in my purse.

Re: Brand New Quattro AIR FFM + Help!
After I saw this post I contacted 3 of my Resmed contacts, 2 said "Resmed does not have bluetooth capability yet", and the third said "Resmed does not have bluetooth capability in the US yet". He would not confirm the existance of bluetooth in other markets however.

Quattro Air! Wow..we have not seen this at the DME were we work. Will be excited to see if it works as good as it looks. If it does Resmed will have the best FFM on the market with the quattro family (IMHO)

What is the purpose of the Bluetooth?

Re: Brand New Quattro AIR FFM + Help!
Hey guys,
I thought I'd give it a try. CPAP.com just started selling the Quattro Air today and I purchased one. Be prepared as the mask isn't cheap. It is selling for $179 for mask and headgear on this site.
They advertise it as the lightest facemask on the market. And, they state it is easier on the bridge of your nose.
As a heads-up, the Gel-pad mask on CPAP.com that is normally $109 is on sale for $56. This mask is one of the highest rated masks on CPAP.com. I have never personally tired this mask but thought the price was outstanding with the reviews it has received.
Take care,
Thewino

Re: Brand New Quattro AIR FFM + Help!
Once again; I cannot get excited about any Resmed full face mask until they make one in my face size AND shape.
X-dimension (height) alone is not a sufficient measurement; y-dimensions (width) used are not comprehensive enough yet,
and z-dimensions appear to be all one depth, completely ignoring obvious differences in anatomy . . .
There is no way I will have cosmetic surgery to fit their brand of masks.

Help!
I have almost zero AHI on my data but still have dizziness during parts of daytime. IMO, it's not connected to the AHI. As I understand it, almost 20% of CPAP users with "adequate" results on the machine have RESes (Residual Excessive Sleepiness) during the days. The causes: Depression, Heart problems, Restless Legs, Brain lesions from using the CPAP, etc.
