The only type of card I could find was an "SDHC" card. Will that work? Do I need to do anything to it other than putting it in the machine to download data?

Of course, going on the theory that once I walk in the door with it, I'll find the missing one, I haven't opened it yet...
You won't find it until you get the new one open and running. It is the law.

Okay, I'm back in business, for only a trip to Fry's and about $11.00!

Ollie Ollie Oxen Free! Now, my backup SD card and reader can re-appear, or not... either way is fine by me. Had no clue my home had a black hole.

You will find it tomorrow. That is the law. I don't know who wrote the law thought.

Murphy's laws
You will always find something in the last place you look.
If your looking for more than one thing, you'll find the most important one last.

It is never in the last place you look. It is in the first place you look, but never discovered on the first attempt.

After you bought a replacement for something you've lost and searched for everywhere, you'll find the original.

SDHC cards usually work fine in Philips or ResMed machines. However, sometimes a particular card won't work in a particular device. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason, including high priced cards. CPAP machines seem to be particularly tolerant of different SD cards.

There are now SDXC cards, too. I haven't heard from anyone who has tried one of these.

In any case, the machine probably won't make use of the extra capacity above 2 GB, but the SDHC cards seem to work.

I'm grateful I didn't wait to find my card and bought another. That darn thing is still MIA.

I have stopped looking, but it is still puzzling me what could have happened to it!

I have had missing items show up months (sometimes YEARS) later.
I wish I could get someone to stop feeding the gremlins.

If it helps, Tuesday I found a screwdriver I lost last summer. I was raking leaves out
of the ivy next to my house and voila!

What I don't understand is, when folks do find a lost item they've been looking for, why do they complain: "It's always in the last place I look!"

Of course it's always in the last place you look. What idiot would continue looking for an item after they found it?

Which means it's in the last place you look even when that's the first place you look.

Profound.

Sometimes it is in the first place, but not seeing it, I keep looking . . .

Had to laugh at this one. Not long ago I was guilty of it.
I had ordered 2 replacement nasal pillows for the Tap Pap....went to put them away in the little cpap "stash" box...couldn't find them anywhere and I looked all over the place for 2 days. Thought crap what have I done this time.
Then I happened to be putting away the dishes from the dish rack on the kitchen counter (I don't have a dishwasher) and guess what was right next to the dish rack in between my Nespresso machine and the dish rack...yep...the nasal pillow packages.
They were right there on my kitchen counter the entire time...I was looking but not seeing. I know I looked the kitchen counter over at least 50 times because that is where I normally put things until I put them away in proper place. I just simply never saw them...I had even made myself a cup my special Nespresso coffee and didn't see them..and they were 2 inches from the machine.

FINALLY! I found it.

Just yesterday, I was thinking about how I could lose the reader/card within the house and have them just disappear. I was still puzzled. I lost them on June 1. I found them yesterday when I opened the hall closet to get a jacket for fireworks last night. There they were, on the floor of the closet. I typically only go in there for jackets, and since June 1, haven't needed such. My guess is that they fell out of my pocket onto the hardwood floor and slid under the door.

Finally, the mystery is solved. There is no "Bermuda Triangle" in my house.
