My experience has been just the opposite! I have trouble with my chinstrap only when the beard covering my chin is too short! Was itchy and needly all night.

So I keep it trimmed at #5 on my trimmer, which is: 7mm 0.28" at which point the hair lays down flat under the chinstrap.

I guess it all depends on what your individual facial hair is like.

Regards, Nate

Good luck,

I have a deviated septum and small airway. There's just no way that I don't breathe through my mouth at night. Trust me, it's attractive.

I appreciate all the responses. Thanks guys. Seems that I just haven't found the right mask yet. The FX rides up my nose in the middle of the night and also farts into my left eye. The Mirage just has bad seal fit most nights. I keep my goatee trimmed to #3 on my trimmer so I didn't think that it was too long (it's styled like Tony Stark in Ironman, or as close as I could get it). My DME told me that there's a new mask coming next month, maybe that will fit better.
I did try the mask liner from Pad-a-cheek for my Mirage and it makes the mask more comfortable but doesn't seem to help with leaks. I also tried a gel liner from CPAPseal and that had very limited success as well.

Thanks again.

Simplyme mad a strap for the Quattro FX that went on the bottom straps and under the chin to keep the mask from riding up. I tied a ribbon across the straps and under my chin and it worked really well. Actually it works well on other masks as well.
