REMStar Pro error message - Motor current

My Respironics REMStar Pro is about two years old and has been used every night since I bought it. In the last few weeks, there have been three occasions where I woke up to its alarm, (usually meaning that I've pulled a hose loose) to find that there's an error message on the display and the machine has ceased to operate.

The message is: error 14 - Motor current.

So far, if I unplug the machine and let it rest for some hours, it has worked without malfunction for the next few nights, but I presume that there is a mechanical problem that requires repair or replacement before the unit ceases to function entirely.

If anyone recognizes this error and can advise me, I'd appreciate it.

Error 14 means that your unit needs either the circuit board replaced or the blower replaced. The blower is asking for more voltage from the circuit board than it should.

Respironics tech support suggests that you bring it in for service.

My remstar pro quit and resperonics says I have to taken to a supplier to have it fixed. I checked and it is out of warranty so I am out of luck! I hate it that they make you use a supplier and refuse to fix it.... no wonder healthcare is out of whack!

It's a simple matter to get things done if you follow the rules. If you can't follow the rules, I can't see how it's their problem, if you can't. Kind of like being a roving guest, instead of joining a forum and taking a useful part.

Take responsibility of your own actions, life works better that way. Buying a used device, from a unknown, leaves you with, a where is as is. The cost of repair may be more than it's worth, that should have been added in when you bought it used. Compaired to the cost of new online, you have to figure out what is a worthwhile risk.

If you want it fixed at any price, call Remstar have them tell you who to take it to to send it in, contact them for details, then follow the instructions.
