Eye-Fi, WiFi, PR & SleepyHead

sawinglogz says that PR uses a UDF File System on the SD Cards. He also says Eye-Fi Pro Cards send RAW files.

This is the bigger problem (for PR). The card itself provides the interface to the filesystem, and the card won't understand UDF. Game over.

Besides, your PR needs to be turned on in order to provide power to the SD card. Do you really want to leave your machine blowing while you turn on your laptop and download the files?

I stand corrected. The card that came with my ASV was formatted FAT32. (I had read somewhere else that it was UDF.)

Also, it's clear that the ASV is powered up whenever it's plugged in, even when therapy (blower) is off. I don't know whether the SD card also has power, but it's certainly possible.

Let me know how your experiments go.

i've ordered a Toshiba FlashAir SD Card since the Toshiba site in many places claims to support any and all file types on the card and for downloading via a web interface. there was some indication, in unclear language, that the card may have the ability to maintain power for a few minutes. if that's true then it has some kind of capacitor in it. that may be the case to stabilize the voltage variance of different host devices.

both eye-fi and transcend tech support people said their cards wouldn't work because of the file system. however, tech support these days are script readers written by technical writers who may or may not know what is really going on. i say this because the ieee specs for SD cards indicate that all sd cards would support all file types. however, the download function may be looking for a specific file type therefore making them right and me wrong.

so, if the toshiba works i'll post the instructions.

no luck. the flashair would be quite nice. my mac likes it. my phone likes it. but it failed in the PR S1 760P. i tried it with no sleep files on it and also with a complete copy of my current sleep files. the results weren't good. with no files the 760P tried to write to it but found the card corrupt. with all of the sleep files on it the 760P asked if it should reformat the card. so, out of luck entirely with eye-fi, transcend and toshiba...

Guess you're just going to have to lug that old-fashioned SD card back and forth between CPAP and PC.

Those are the ones DMEs use for remote monitoring. My DME provided the wireless one. Note that it has a monthly fee and uploads its data to the EncoreAnywhere service.

It may be that the broadband version lets you upload data to your own system, but I'm sure it's obscenely expensive.
