Post by Walking Zombie » Wed May 22, 2013 4:01 am

HI guys

New to cpap and cuurently using an S9 autoset on trial.I have a chance of buying an s8 autoset or an s9 autoset both hardly used.Any advice greatly appreciated.I believe if i get the s8 and won't be able to get the info for rescan?Does this make sense.I am in Australia so there is big price difference.

One is $750 s8 and the s9 is 1200 both include humidifiers?thanks

Both can use ResScan but the S8 doesn't offer clear airway (central) apnea detection or waveform data. The S8 requires a special data card and card reader that goes for around $70 on ebay. Otherwise, you can view some data numbers onscreen. Also, the S8 algorithm records hypopneas very aggressively (about 2x the S9). The S9 has a heated hose option for warmer air and reduced rainout, if that matters to you.

I believe the S8 requires a special memory card and a special card reader. So, You only get the on-screen data unless you have those.

Scott,

In USA those would be high prices for an out-of-pocket purchase. Don't know about AussieLand prices. The S9 should have better resale; S8 hasn't been made in a while. good luck. earl

Check with secondwindcpap.com on their prices since you are open to used equipment. You can always use a re shipping facility if the sellers do not want to handle the customs paperwork.
