F&P FlexiFit Series HC431 & HC431A

Post by klady » Tue May 30, 2006 1:33 pm

Hi,

Does anyone know if there is a difference between the HC431 and HC431A?

I was fitted with a small HC431 which felt wonderful at my sleep center. When I went to pick it up at my DME, I landed up with a HC431A and only felt comfortable with a medium, which is weird.

Is anyone familiar with this. I thought I had solved the problem of keeping my big mouth shut at night, but noooo. I'm back to using a FF mask again ~ ugh!

Thanks for any input.

The 431 should come with all three sizes inserts, it you didn't get all three, check your DME's listing on E-Bay. Jim

Jim...play nice.....I think she said she had a HC 431 and the small fit her.
When she received her HC 431A..........of the 3 masks.....I think she is
implying the small on the "A" version did NOT fit....yet the 431 version small
did fit her.....is there that much difference between the 431 and 431A??

Or did I misunderstand you klady?? I have the 431A, but never saw the 431
series.

If the medium fits you good......you are probably lucky. I received the 431A
and called back the next day with a medical reason why I had to have a nose
mask. No charge...my medical requirements were on the form and the tech
still thought the FF mask was best. He was wrong. I now have two masks.

If the mask doesn't feel right...your insurance might provide you with a new
one for free. Operative word being "might".

Let us know how it turns out......and good luck

klady:

i think your post is not clear. fit is one thing. the model number is another. my box says 431A, and I ordered 431 from cpap.com. i think "A" stands for adult.

what Jim (Goofproof) means is that it sounds like your DME only gave you the medium. but the 431 gives you all three sizes in one box. so he means that if you only got the medium, your dme might be hawking your small and large on ebay.

but you didn't say that. you only said you couldn't understand why small fit better on one night, and another day the medium fit better. who knows? you should have both. alternate each nite and see which you like better.

sizes can be weird. it wouldn't be the first time this has happened.

Hi,

Sorry about not being clear. I did receive all 3 sizes. It just was weird that the small fit so comfortably in my doctor's office and at my DME, the straps on the small had to be tightened.

After struggling with it at home, the medium was much more comfortable. This led me to believe that perhaps there might be a slight difference between the two versions.

The A representing "Adult" seems to make sense. I'm going to get in touch with my sleep specialist (she'll be in the office today) and try to clear this whole mess up. Perhaps at the tender age of 70 plus a few years, I'm in my second childhood and need a kiddies size.

I'll let you know how this all ends up. Thanks for your interest and feedback.

Oops, further clarification. My doctor's office fit me with a 431, small, which was so comfy and no leaks.

When I returned home from the DME, the box stated 431A. As the good bard said, "Ah, there's the rub." I needed a medium size.

Hope this makes sense.

I think the "A", stands for adorable, as you can guess, I wound up with the plain 431. Jim

The A does not mean adult, it is just a slight model change in which they shifted a few things around, like the positon of the exhaust port, etc. If it meand adult, then there would be a "child" sized mask in this series, which there is not.
