Question on AHI
Question on AHI
I downloaded Sleepyhead and noticed that most nights (in looking at the AHI graph over time) that my AHI jumps in the early morning normally around 5 am. For example my AHI for the night will be 6, but at 5 am I am in the 30's.
In looking at my data this seems to be the norm.
I am always dead tired when I wake up around 7am each morning, and it takes me a good 3-4 hours to not feel tired.
Although if I have to wake-up real early, I can wake up pretty fast.
Questions:
1. Is this normal for the AHI to be real high in the early morning?
2. What could be causing this?
I will post some photos.

Every event raises the stress hormone level which sets you up for more events. Usually the "peak" is more like 3 a.m. Perhaps there is a noise, or smell, or light change which further upsets you at 5a?

The only thing I can think of is if your OSA is worse in REM, and you hit the dense early am REM period, your AHI climb. Your overall AHI as well as the AHI in that time period seem too high. What pressure are you using?

That was a really high one.
here are a few of the reads (PEAK AM AHI)
5-14 12 AHI @ 6:30AM Avg AHI 4.54
5-13 17 AHI @ 7am Avg AHI 5.22
5-8 14 AHI @ 7:20 am Avg AHI 4.22
PS
I have had the mask for 1.5 years now. After about 6 months I went back to the sleep dr. and explained how I was always soooooo tired all the time, after 6 months would think it would improve.
He just looked at the daily AHI avg. and said everything was fine.....
Maybe now that I can see the spike in the AM they can make some changes...

Re: Question on AHI
What machine do you have?
You probably need a higher pressure to handle the time during REM. If you have an auto machine, you can set it to go up as needed. If you have a cpap machine, you may need to set it higher and experiment to find a setting that handles the REM okay without being too high.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
Re: Question on AHI
You need some where else to host the image....the IMG box thing isn't working for dropbox.
That last hour of ugly stuff? Were you by any chance awake or semi awake? Tossing and turning?
