PR S1 AutoSV Question

Post by Wakanda » Mon May 13, 2013 9:52 am

I'm interested in eliminating Hypopneas and RERA's. Mine are low right now but an insidious exhaustion occurs when they are anything but ZERO. If you are using an AuoSV on bilevel is your machine able to eliminate HI's and RERA's?

Nope. I almost always have some. How long have you been using it? You might need to give it time to allow your body to adjust to ASV therapy. It takes a few weeks to a few months.

And it's possible that it's more than just breathing at this point. You should probably discuss it with your sleep doctor.

thanks john. i don't have an AutoSV - just interested in possibly getting one.

Is there anyone else out there who has an AutoSV and who has completely eliminated Hypopneas and RERA's?

Unless you have central sleep apnea, an AutoSV unit is VERY inappropriate. If you've read the struggles people have with ASV therapy you would know you do NOT want to walk into that hornets nest unless you need to the therapy to improve your sleep. It's not a "magic" machine that fixes all breathing problems. In fact the very fact that it changes pressures so rapidly often causes serious problems for others.

john,

i think i may have central sleep hypopnea. i do show a bit of central activity, though less than 1 always. the bipap keeps my stats quite good. it's interesting to note that you identify the asv as a "hornet's nest". i thought it would be easier to use, not more difficult...

thanks much for you advice.
