Got a present from my weekly status check

Still had a Flow Limitation and a Partial Breath, but 0 APIs and 0 RERAs .... my first ever!

I'm definitely liking my attempt at Dial Wingin'.

But for newbies: I achieved this AFTER a sleep test and titration gave me a good starting point, and WITH my doctor's approval of methods. Would I have tried without either? Probably, if I had access to the knowledge I now do, but NOT without, and ONLY if I couldn't get the head start that I did have.

After all, Dial Wingin' got me very little in numerical improvement (from 1-2 AHI to (now) 0 to 1. The improvement in how I feel is a very different animal, but nothing that can be quantified. Actually, as I think about it, the problem is similar to "measuring" pain in a patient.

very nice!!! congratulations on the improvement and how you feel.

My dial winging also happened after a sleep study and a discussion with my doc at my 90 day review. I started bi-pap at 21/15.... we agreed that it could go to 20/14 to work on eliminating my aerophagia.... I've made some adjustments and I'm at 19.4 / 14.2 these days and things are great

although my nightly bathroom runs stopped almost immediately, I didn't start to feel any better until after 3-4 months of use.

These days, my nightly AHi is in the 0.2 - 0.8.... I feel great and have a bunch of energy

now if only I could convince my body to sleep more than 7 hours on weekends.

LOL

khauser,

Just what are you dialing in?

All I have done so far is raise my lower pressure to 10 but most of the nights my 90% pressure lands in 11.5 to 13 range. My AHI is usually around 1 but it has been as low as .4.

Do you think I should raise my lower pressure up to 11 and see what happens?

I can't think of anything else I can do to dial in.

I have the same equipment you have except I am not using my TAP PAP only occasionally, I prefer sticking with the Headrest.

I have had this new equipment a couple of months and haven't had any major leak with it always showing zero.

How sweet...

I had a no hitter a couple of weeks ago...sad thing was it was only a 3 hour night. Woke up with the stomach bug and spent the rest of the night too sick to sleep.

Awesome! Congratulations! Funny, from what I've been reading, seems like now is the season for folks to schedule sleep studies.
Don't change whatever you did last night.

You are trying to gild a lily.

Is this forum teaching newbies that the AHI should be zero?

No.

1...Those AHI numbers are within normal variances that people can expect to see anyway. We don't sleep the same every night. They are going to fluctuate anway. They will rarely be the same. The difference between 1.0 and 0.4 is insignificant.
2...If the bulk of that AHI is central or clear airway raising the pressure won't help anyway. Make sure that what you are wanting to "fix" is fixable before you go changing things.
3...Chasing AHI 0.0 not needed. If it happens.. it happens.

Don't get sucked into that 0.0 AHI thing...it will cause unnecessary stress and drive you nuts.
In nearly 4 years I can count the number of 0.0 AHI nights I have had on one hand. I always seem to have at least a couple of centrals that mess up a "perfect" night. Often from an awake event getting flagged anyway.

Hi bryansong,
Back in February when I joined the forum I began posting my data, just for kicks. Pugsy observed that I was "throwing" a lot of snoring events. I decided to (slowly) raise my bottom pressure until they went away. That's what accounts for the improvement I experienced.
